Then not too long after that, a certain Gamel Abdel Nasser declaring his vile pan-Arabic (cf. "pan-German") imperialist vision to be both "nationalist" and "socialist" spoke volumes about the influence from a certain Reich, particularly since it was bent against the nascent Jewish state of Israel. Never mind what is happening within the European Union these days.
The secular pan-Arabist Ba’ath party of Syria & Iraq was similarly inspired.
