A source of CBS News told the network that Bloomberg is contemplating the move partially due to regrets he didn’t run in 2016, as he believes he could have prevented President Donald Trump’s victory.
The 76-year-old would be the oldest person to run. He is a political independent but endorsed Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential elections, calling Trump a “risky, reckless and radical choice.”
“Mike Bloomberg told me he is going to run in 2020,” one source is quoted by the Times of London. “He has the money to see it through while other candidates knock themselves out.”

He would be in a crowd of at least 15 Democrats (if the rumors are correct). That’s problem number one. In the south, I don’t see him getting any real support. His age? It’ll work against him.

He’s probably not going to be progressive enough for today’s Democrat/Socialists anyway.
Bloomberg will help the GOP buy outspending and bulldozing the up and coming progressives, much to their great anger.
His ability to manage big cities is impressive, but his taciturn, condescending, busybody compulsions will turn off a lot of voters.

Michael Bloomberg did in fact build a News empire.
He consolidated financial data, mostly bonds at first, in a way that had never been done before. Having a “Bloomberg Terminal” in any trading office was critical. They naturally expanded into other financial instruments, and financial news and then political news.
It’s my sense that Michael himself, has been long removed from the company that carries his name.

Unless you are a Democrat, why is that even relevant? I assume he will run in the Dem primary, and if he wins, in the general election as a Democrat.
Assuming Trump runs in 2020, who really cares whether Bloomberg is his opponent or not. I'm voting for Trump regardless.
