Members of the incoming Container Services, Inc. met with their new colleagues, the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce last night at the Crane Room Grille.
CSI recently purchased the 45,700-square-foot facility located at 209 Green Ridge Road in the in the RIDC Industrial Park in Neshannock Township. The business manufactures containers designed to meet the specific requirements for a variety of areas in the packaging industry.
Company President Brent Diggers and Director of Operations Tom Leihy were among the roughly 20 people in attendance. They were joined by local officials who included Lawrence County Commissioner Bob Del Signore, Neshannock Supervisor Joe Gierlach and Dana McQuiston from the office of state Rep. Chris Sainato. Alex McCoy, chief executive officer of the chamber, served as the host.
“Tonight’s event is made up of several of the chamber board members, elected officials, and key sponsors of the chamber,” McCoy said, “We wanted to be able to introduce the CSI management team to these individuals. We wanted to be able to welcome CSI, and let them know that we appreciate their investment into our community.”
CSI was started in Hillsboro, Kansas. It services businesses in Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
Leihy, who has been with CSI for 19 years, will be in charge of getting this new facility up and going.
“This is our second facility,” Diggers said, “We chose this location due to its easy interstate access, among other things.”
It's the first time CSI has expanded beyond Hillsboro, Leihy said, adding that “We’ll be supporting customers we already have in this geographic area. We will need to see how it develops from there. We will be looking to see which markets we can develop. We just don’t have much experience on the eastern seaboard.”
Both Leihy and Diggers said that production should start in December.
“Well, we need to get the machinery in there first, before we can start hiring,” Leihy said, “We would like to start hiring in about November.”
Initially, the facility will have about 10 workers. Eventually, according to Diggers, the facility could mirror the size of their original facility, which has 75 workers.
“We’ll be starting with two shifts,” Leihy said, “We’re just starting out with one piece of molding equipment. We’ll be developing from there.”
Jeez, what crumbs Nancy...I guess if they didn’t have a tax cut, Ms Pelosi, I guess they could hire 150 workers...
