ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) - Are you in the market for a new job? Employment opportunities are waiting for you at the newly-expanded Wayne Farms manufacturing facility in Enterprise.

Eddie Fortner, Enterprise Operations Manager for Wayne Farms, says "We've actually invited community leaders from around the Jack/Enterprise area...mayors, chamber of commerce, community leaders to talk about our expansion and what's going on."

Fortner says the company needs to hire hundreds of new employees.

"We anticipate adding from 350 to 400 hourly jobs. We have about 35 salary positions that we're hiring for so we have a lot of opportunities that's fixing to take place," says Fortner.

The expansion should be completed early next year.

"We expect to have the facility finished in February-March of 2019," says Fortner.

Along with new job opportunities, Wayne Farms will also be introducing a new product line.

"Naked truth chicken...it's a gap two product. It's a veg-fed, enhanced housing product," replied Fortner.

With new employment and business opportunities, the City of Enterprise continues to progress.

William E. Cooper, Mayor of the City of Enterprise, says "Anytime that you can bring in an industry that will hire 400 people then it means that people who need to work will have somewhere to work."

Mayor Cooper is also expecting a big economic impact for the surrounding area.

"It doesn't mean that all the jobs are going to be for people in Enterprise...but you're going to have people from surrounding communities. Not only will that be a financial gain for Enterprise but also for the rest of the communities," says Cooper.

Wayne Farms is the seventh largest poultry producer in the U.S.

I once visited a peanut buying business in Enterprise. Before I left, the guy I was dealing with asked if I wanted some free peanuts.

Of course I did. He grabbed a bag and dumped in what I thought was a medium amount of peanuts from their sampling batches.

There was a lot more than I realized. We ate them for nearly a year.

I grew up in Enterprise in the 50's and 60's. Dad worked for Sessions Company, a peanut butter and peanut oil business. Naturally they would buy a lot of peanuts, so I wonder if that is the company you were talking about. Small world!

Wayne Farms is in the business of cutting chicken throats and the spilling of lots of blood.
They won’t have trouble attracting muzzie employees by droves.
They’ll even bring their own knives.
