After his assassination, RFK became a secular saint. But in real life he was an SOB as his brother's attorney general (I believe he had MLK wiretapped), served as a staffer to Joe McCarthy and even had McCarthy as godfather to one of his and Ethel's children (before distancing himself from same after his censure), and very opportunistically jumped into the 1968 race after LBJ dropped out and he saw how well Eugene McCarthy was doing as an anti-war candidate (and this after serving in his brother's admin which initially got us into Viet Nam). And that after being elected as a carpetbagger senator in New York (preceding Hillary Clinton). He was definitely a very very mixed bag. And other than giving some good speeches I dont know what he ever accomplished. He did not however, leave any women to drown in his submerged car.

To be fair Ted Cruz’s real name is Rafael. I was talking with a friend during their debate last night which is worse, to play down your hispanic heritage and go by Ted or play it up and go by Beto?

A March O’Rourke profile in the Dallas Morning News said the candidate’s father, the late Pat O’Rourke, who was elected El Paso’s county judge, “once explained why he nicknamed his son Beto: Nicknames are common in Mexico and along the border, and if he ever ran for office in El Paso, the odds of being elected in this mostly Mexican-American city were far greater with a name like Beto than Robert Francis O’Rourke.
The dif is Cruz is from Canada and he changed his name because he was being made fun of as a young kid, not for political purposes.
He was “Mr. Etch a Sketch” befcre Romney was....anti-union in the early ‘60s, then hard left by the late ‘60s.
