The Case For Larry Sharpe

I give my thoughts on why Larry Sharpe, the Libertarian Party candidate for governor of New York, is worthy of your vote, even if it's purely symbolic.

KEYWORDS: andrewcuomo; larrysharpe; libertarian; openborders; prostitution; socialliberal

Without exception, voting for a libertarian is a wasted vote. A vote that might as well go to the democrat. You might as well have stayed home. A vote against conservatism. And indicates you are a LIV.

Just a few thoughts. I’m sure there are many other points to made against voting for a lib.

He’s a great guy but voting for him is a wasted vote. No chance whatsoever. Losertarian voting is an exercise in self-righteous ego.

You may have noticed a bunch of anti libertarians here who will flood you with useless remarks, yet you press on: Admirable. So here’s some actual constructive criticism.

Don’t ramble. People stop listening to rambling within a minute or so.

Work from an outline, don’t try to wing it.

Focus the camera maybe four inches down. Have a pal vary the view.

Speaking of pals, present your vid to fellow LPers, who might help you polish it.

That’s all. Greetings from a “small l” -er.

Oh, and give folks here a useful link to data on your candidate, and perhaps on the others.

Thanks for the advice.

I actually do long form, half hour programs in studio about once a month.

But the Vlogs are just informal "rants" I produce every other day or so, where I speak extemporaneously.

It’s not purely symbolic. If he gets at least 50,000 votes, then the Libertarian Party is ballot qualified for the next four years.

That's true.

I don't have that much emotional investment in the Libertarian Party, to be honest. In fact, I actually think it's a poor representative of libertarianism, and if anything turns off the public towards both Minarchism and anarcho-capitalism, to the extent the latter is even reflected.

That said, the Sharpe campaign is worthwhile in the sense that it represents at least a strand of opposition to the dismal collectivism that's consumed this state.

You waste your vote when you vote for what you don’t believe in.

As long as we operate within the two-party duopoly, we’ll never have any other choices — which then becomes a good excuse to keep operating within the duopoly paradigm. It’s a circle.

I’d say, if the R has a fighting chance, I consider voting R.

Even McLame and Romney, because of the alterlative.

Min and AC work best in small communities, but need to access other resources. Remember Minerva vs Tonga.

"...the Libertarian Party is ballot qualified for the next four years."

Don't be so sure of that. Democrat/Republican state legislatures have a knack for changing the ballot access rules once some third party manages to achieve "Permanent Ballot Access". Saw this happen more than once in Illinois, petitioning for ballot access on behalf of LP.

It’s state law. It’s been the law for decades. Right now, New York has 8 ballot-qualified parties: Democrat, Republican, Conservative, Green, Independence, Working Families, Women’s Equality, and Reform.

If you get 50,000 votes for governor, you’re on. Period.

I was on the Sharpe bandwagon for a week or two, but have done a complete 180 after reading some articles and interviews.

On FB I laid out my case trying to convince people to see what I see. Some did. The point is not that Molinaro can beat Cuomo, the point is take a closer look at a guy who is sucking in thousands of us and he is NOT some great guy. He’s really not.

These excerpts are from an interview Larry did with Reason Magazine in January. These are his own words. Please bear with me.

https://reason.com/archives/2018/01/14/selling-freedom?fbclid=IwAR1eX2SPD4lwGn95qvm5BrPcvthL6JlOE8yDi-FWuQx23JD6sjRRegmfvaM

1: As of 6 or fewer years ago he was still running around looking for a party to agree with him. He hates Trump and thinks Trumpsters are stupid. I take that personally.

2: He doesn’t think republicans have grounded values or idealogies, he thinks we change as the leader changes, but it’s the exact opposite. The leader has changed because we haven’t.

3: Larry really likes the anarchists, He didn’t mention Antifassholes by name, but they are who he is referring to. He wants them in the Libertarian party, and he thinks he can make anarchists out of his new followers.

4: This last snip sums up all of the above. Larry is nuts. I’m glad I saw that before I voted. It may too late, too many are refusing to stop drinking his KoolAid. Mind you, this is ONE article, but it’s in his own words, and this should be enough to hang from his own petard.

************************************************************
“Culture change is the answer in any organization, period. In your family, in the country. That’s what matters” CULTURE CHANGE - get it?? He wants to change out culture.

“My people are still going to jail, my friends are still being deported “ Blaming the rule of law for incarcerating criminals and deporting illegals.

(Republicans) “They’re only concerned about winning and beating the other guy. Nothing else matters.” No acknowledgment that we fight for the unborn, for American freedoms, etc.

“... (Anarchists aka Antifa) when they attack me with vitriol because I’m not libertarian enough—I need them. Even though they think I’m the enemy, I’m the only guy saying, “Don’t leave.”....
He thinks Antifa has value, he does not disagree with their violence.

.... “(Anarchists/Antifa) I need these guys to turn them (new people) into real Libertarians. I wish they would stop fighting me, and start teaching the people I bring in. Show them. They haven’t read Bastiat. They have no idea what an anarcho-capitalist is. They don’t know what cryptocurrency is. Show them. I’ve opened their minds. Take advantage of it. Put some good stuff in those brains. Do it. Make them all anarchists. That’d be awesome. I’d love it.” He wants the people who are getting on his band wagon to be trained by Antifa to become anarchists. he thinks we’re in need of re-education. He thinks antifa makes great teachers.

“..... The reason we have Donald Trump now is because people are scared. “The world’s ending, what are we doing, we have debt, we don’t know what we’re doing. Strongman, help me.” Right?” ...... Larry does not like Trump, he obviously has no respect for me or people like me. Does he have respect for you?

“....Strongman’s either a dictator or a socialist. That’s how it works, and that’s been repeated how many times for a thousand years. “ ... He thinks Trump is a Dictator, because he’s obviously not a Socialist.

I don’t care if Larry was a Marine, I think he’s a vainglorious opportunist at best. He’s a new, excited convert to Libertarianism and wants to fulfill his vision for that group. Which includes handing power to Antifa, saving illegals from deportation, and easing up on criminals who happen to be black.

He sounds like he wants to be a prophet or savior of some kind. He reminds me a LOT of Bath House Barry. Difference is Larry was a Marine and is in sales and marketing, so unlike Barry, Larry may actually have some smarts - which a whole nother level of dangerous.

Look, Cuomo may win anyway, I’m just trying to make a point that Larry is a snake oil salesman, a bait and switch operator.

These points jump out at me like flames. I wish everyone could see it.

And since I am a Conservative, I still believe in chivalry. Two little boys who attacked me earlier over a difference of opinion are really low and rude, and I hope they’re ashamed of themselves. Maybe Larry could use those boys like them, after all. Antifa isn’t afraid to attack anyone, am I right?

What, nobody remembers? Minerva was a libetarian community on an unclaimed island, bothering nobody. England paid the king of Tonga to attack them. Being non-military, they caved like seaweed.
