US Policy in a Changing Middle East
United States Secretary of Defense - James Mattisremarkably failed to mention the two-state solution, or even the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in his keynote addressUS Policy in a Changing Middle Eastdelivered at the International Institute for Strategic Affairs 14th Regional Security Summit in Manama, Bahrein held between 26-28 October.
Mattis pointed omissions can only fuel speculation that a one-state solutionpossibly involving the creation of a Jordan enclave in the West Bank - could now be uppermost in President Trumps thinking.
Good.
There never was a place called “Palestine”
Does Jordan want the enclave? I seem to remember that Jordan ‘tired’ of its ‘Palestinian guests’ a few decades ago.
To get peace there has to be new leadership on the Palestinian side - the PLO has to go.
You can’t cobble together some well meaning individuals from among the Arab population in the West Bank, because the organized PLO gang will kill or intimidate them.
A new power is needed to govern there.
Jordan has long avoided that, because of the difficulty and danger of managing that population within Jordan itself.
I would assume they would have to get a mountain of cash and security assistance to take on that mission, and other Arab States would likely have to agree to take some of the population (by offering jobs in those countries).
The PLO nearly toppled the Jordanian government in the Black September uprising of 1970. The purpose of establishing an enclave in the West Bank is to get all the Palestinians OUT of Jordan.
In the early 70s the very liberal but thoroughly pro Israel, at least back then, Pete Hamill penned column in the theneftwing NYPost calling for Israel to absorb the conquered territories and for the Palestinians to tale over Jordan, remove Hussein and the Bedouin govt and m as ke Jordan the Paledtinian state.
“Palestinian-Israeli conflict”
It’s Israel defending itself from terrorists.
Totally unacceptable and very dangerous krap! Send the Muslim occupiers home as step 1. If this fails to be done, bring greenblatt and khshner home NOW! ( Maybe give them jobs selling decorative snow balls at the White House tourist souvenirs shop anything where they cant muck up our defenses or foreign policy ).
If that means, move the Arab squatters out of Gaza, fine. But they should be moved entirely out of the so-called West Bank and *into* Gaza, whether they want to keep squatting there or not. Jordan illegally occupied, then ethnically cleansed, the so-called West Bank as well as eastern Jerusalem, in 1948, creating that particular part of the problem. BTW, neither the mini-king of the Hashemites, nor the PLO factions, will accept the proposal, so, no harm, no foul. It's another bargaining position. Thanks Sean_Anthony.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

A reasonable concept if Jordan is willing to go along with it. The palestinians won't in any case.
We’ve gotta start somewhere...
