Colorado voters will decide the future of the oil and gas industry in their state on Tuesday, as they contemplate requiring greater distances between them and drilling operations.
There are more than 150 voter initiatives on the ballot in 37 states on November 6, ranging from healthcare to marijuana legalization, from voting rules to criminal justice reform. There are also a series of votes that will affect the oil and gas industry. Voters in Washington State will decide on passing the nations first carbon tax, while California will weigh a repeal of a gasoline tax.
But the vote in Colorado might be the most consequential for the energy industry. If passed, proposition 112 will bar drilling operations within 2,500 feet of homes, businesses and green spaces, up from the current setback distance of just 500 feet.

Drill Baby, Drill!
Just about everyone in Colorado has appeared on TV to speak out against 112. It will more than likely go down to an absolutely overwhelming defeat. There is really no reason to get all itchy with fear over the prospect of its passage.
Directional drilling makes it moot.
“It’s All-Or-Nothing For Colorado Drillers”
If they lose they should ytake their business elsewhere like Magpul did with the magazine ban. Screw the Colofornia voters.

The proposition served it’s purpose. Energy industry money went to defeat the proposition instead of to defeating Polis for governor. As a secondary matter, because it’s slightly different than a proposition Polis financed two years ago, it lets Polis pretend he’s opposed to it. I suspect he’s the most radical person running for governor anywhere in the nation across the board.
Electing Polis for governor will be just as bad, and in many ways worse, for the energy industry than passing 112.
You are right about Polis for Dem Gov. Polis will destroy freedom in Colorado. Polis is a disgustingly evil Dem commie rat. And if he wins, Colorado will be the new California.
And to think we moved to Colorado to get out of California!
The Niobrara formation in Colorado shows great promise. If its development is halted then drilling will only increase in the Permian Basin of Texas and New Mexico.
Polis was ahead by double digits last I looked. Colorado is now largely blue, sadly.
