Dear Lord please help us all, and to You be the praise
11/10/2018 | What the Lord put on my heart

For years and years I've watched the political climate go downhill in America.

Even Donald Trump hasn't been a cure, only a figurative Dutch boy with his finger in the dike. A large and bulging segment of society has gone frankly profligate and has just pushed the House of Representatives over the line. "Liberal" (though that is what the profligacy movement sounds like) has been left behind. Profligacy is illiberal. Liberals of old would have engaged in reasoned discourse with the conservatives of old. The new ones scream and throw tantrums.

We've been for a long time under the assumption that the political system itself is a shelter against wrong. And more and more that assumption is failing.

I wish to reassert to all who will listen that our ultimate and best shelter is found not even in politics but in God. It is only He who can put His hand upon a cursed situation, extract the devil from it, and turn it into a blessing. Mere human powered political activity cannot do this. And this won't happen in the context of the inaction of His people. Prayers and thanksgivings must take place. When God is glorified, more of His glory follows. When God is given short attention, less of His glory follows.

It looks to me from some recent events that God is leading Donald Trump himself down that path; though he began as nominal at best from a lukewarm mainline church following, those gathering around him have been insisting on more in God's name. This is the place where we should always repair to at the end of the day. We can discuss human machinations all night and day till we are tired, but the Lord is head of it all and we ourselves are part of that. We don't get to be spectators in this sport. Do we have a burden for the country? Then let's not merely criticize. Let's call on the Lord, Who is above all criticism, for His grace and blessing in this trying situation, on the basis of His promises.

And then when we do, let all God's children say: Amen.

Amen.

I am getting baptized this evening. Total immersion baptism. Was baptized as an infant. Holy Spirit has put on my heart to be baptized as an adult who realizes what it means and what Jesus did for me and still does and will for all eternity.

I have been praying since Tuesday for all evil and fraud to be exposed concerning the election.

Have prayed for years for evil to be exposed and for justice.

We must have clean honest elections to survive as a country.
We do not have that now, that’s for sure.

Amen to your tag too — God’s children have been squabbling so long that the lighthouses of the world have grown dim and flickering while darkness does its worst to loom. Are we begging Jesus to cut across all this with blessing? I am now doing so. The point of the judgment is not to doom the children of God (which isn’t possible) but to show them where the Lord’s heart is, and it’s not to keep up all the counterproductive habits into which they have fallen.

I have turned OFF the TV with its distressing political news/noise and this is what I now listen to around the house.

We need to have sufficiently intense caring for justice before it happens. The philosophy of many has become chillingly Machiavellian and savage.

In a way, the churches are beginning to look at a situation that has more and more resemblance of the challenges of early gospel days.

Please everybody pray for me too. My heart burns with desire for the Lord, but then the enemy comes around and burns against me, singing his “doom, doom, doom!” song. Some time ago I came to the conclusion that prayer is vastly underestimated today, because its doors are open all the time. But the enemy comes to try to distract us from going to those doors. Oddly enough, a few weeks ago one of the bible study hand-outs that appeared at my church pointed out how prayer is such an underrated spiritual discipline. I looked and said, wow, this isn’t just me that’s thinking it. The Holy Spirit is, too.

“Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light

Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night

He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice

Standing, stretching every nerve
Had to listen, had no choice

I did not believe the information
Just had to trust imagination

My heart going boom, boom, boom

“Son”, he said, “grab your things, I’ve come to take you home”

.................

Yes and amen! I literally cannot spend more than a few minutes on news, lately, because it absolutely infuriates me to see the fraud and hear the outrageous lies being told. I pray for God’s mercy on us all.
The thing is, we’ve all read the back of the Book, and we know it’s going to become all but unbearable before it’s all over with. I was just hoping that it wouldn’t deteriorate so badly in my lifetime. All of creation has been leading up to what we are reaping. I must fall on my face before God, in repentance for the things I and those of my generation, have done to help bring this all to pass. I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s, and though we weren’t responsible for what went before us, a lot of us did a great deal of damage, latching onto the age of permissiveness, and the beginning of the cult of “me, I, and the importance of our ‘feelings’”. We thought we were being compassionate, but we were just being foolish. Many of our parents knew prosperity for the first time, after WwII, and though I, personally, was deprived, rather than indulged, everything around us was promoting “stuff, and more stuff”. The age of television and advertising was most likely just as earth-shattering to our lives, as the age of computers and internet has been to our kids and grandkids.
Here’s an horrifying and shocking thing -— google, “Is America the great whore of Babylon in Revelations?” It will shake you to your foundations.
Lord God, have mercy on us!

Please pray against the evil that oppresses us all as believers in Jesus Christ.
Because you believe and are a force for good, the evil one will try to stop you with such messages of doom.

We can call upon Almighty God to rebuke the devil in the Name of Jesus, and call upon the powerful Blood of Jesus to drive away danger and evil just like the Jews used blood to cover their doorways to protect them from death.

It is a constant fight we all have against evil.

We must pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Gabriel has said of the song's meaning, "It's about being prepared to lose what you have for what you might get ... It's about letting go."[5] His former bandmate Tony Banks acknowledges that the song reflects Gabriel's decision to break ties with Genesis, but it can also be applied in a broader sense to situations of letting go in general.[citation needed] - Wikipedia

The adage sometimes goes, "Let go and let God." That doesn't mean just coast, but rather, in His power, let go of the old and pray and welcome God to bring the new, and grasp it in His power. God may be so willing to act now that when He does, we may be shocked and find ourselves facing our own personal doubts and insecurities, with the new battlefront being within our still sinful selves.

I’m certain such questions must come up — is America that Great Whore?

I’d like to suggest that some historical perspective helps. There have been situations like this from times that we have very little information about, and certainly from the time the final autographs of the bible were written. I believe one reason we are warned of the Great Whore is so that we will see the urgency of God’s outreach that we won’t utterly collapse into being the Great Whore. “Don’t do this, children.”

The Word assures that the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome (or understood, or both) it.

Praise God! I believe the Lord is calling his people to repentance, and doing a work in the hearts of many unbelievers. Lord, please give us revival. One thing that has been nagging at my heart, is that though Jesus raled against the false religious of His day, who supposedly represented God, he otherwise preached love and repentance. How many of us show love to our enemies? How many of us are willing to show love to the antifa person? So many of us, instead, cry for justice, and feel almost hatred for them and others. What emotion wells up in you, when you see or hear one of them, or one of our crooked politicians spouting lies? Do we pray for them, or curse them? What would Jesus do? The Old Testament is full of righteous wars. And I believe and revere the Old Testament. But Jesus walked the earth under the cruel and Godless reign of the Roman Empire, and he said NOTHING about it. He preached NOTHING about “standing up for our rights”. He “captured” souls with love. What would Jesus do, in response to those evil ones around us? We are His representatives on Earth. I don’t know the answers to my own questions, but I do know that, “Only what is done for God will last.”
