Ocasio-Cortez gets in closed-door fight with veteran lawmaker over climate change

**SNIP**

Watching it all from the sidelines was Pelosi, who has already called for reinstatement of the select panel that she first set more than a decade ago. Ocasio-Cortez has praised Pelosi for reinstating the special committee, even though she wants it to have far broader authority to craft legislation remaking the U.S. energy grid.

“We need to act on climate change NOW w/ a *fossil fuel $-free* Select Committee *with a mandate* to draft a Green New Deal,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted earlier Thursday. “It’s our best chance to beat the clock.”

Pallone declined to comment on what happened during the closed-door meeting, but further explained why he opposes the select committee.

“My fear is that if you have a select committee, by the time the select committee gets going, gets appointed and hires staff that it might actually delay what we’re doing,” the New Jersey Democrat told reporters. “We’ve got people who are in charge of these committees who are very progressive and I just don’t see the need for the select committee. I think it may actually delay what the progressives are trying to achieve.”

The rookie socialist is getting under everyone's skin during the first week of orientation? I'm looking for Vegas odds - the first RAT to tell her to shaddap.

HAHAHA! It starts!

Will she even make it to the beginning of her term?

Reminds me of a lousy high school football player somehow getting signed to an NFL team on some sort of fluke, and he gets put on the field.

If he lasts one game it’s a miracle.

Demoncrats have invited these people into their tent. They're not going to be quiet.

They're going to learn what we've known about these folks....you cannot reason with nor work with them.

Only a matter of time, now, before Occasionally-Courteous manages to make Maxine Waters seem cool-headed and temperate.

In retrospect, this might not have been a fight she should have picked. But ANY fight she picks, is eventually going to end with shouts of recrimination and slamming doors. Always being right is a lonely place to live.

We can hope she is shown in all her glory.

The risk is that she will be taken seriously by the Media.

She is only logically doing what the Progressives say must be done.

When the House passes ridiculous legislation, I think McConnell should let the Senate vote on it, to force Senate Democrats to take a stand. (If the president were a Democrat, of course McConnell should obstruct bad stuff.)

With all the ranting and shouting doom and gloom here, people tend to forget that winning the House was quite possibly going to be that very bitter trophy for the Dems, and this instance is likely that good example of something like that.

Democrats need Alexandria as a tool. Just a number to add to their majority. She’s inconsequential, but, they want her and all other socialists and progressives and communists and Muslims and aliens, whatever, just so they can get and keep the majority. The democrats’ work will be done by the leadership, and the “peon” members WILL all vote with the majority, or else they will be replaced in the next election cycle. Alexandria will be allowed to make a fool of herself as often as she wishes, but, when it comes to the work that Nancy and democratic party leaders want, Alexandria might as well be invisible.

A bit like, “Be careful what you wish for; you just might get it”?

Somebody in the Democrat party failed to tell Ocasio-Cortez that ‘Climate Change / Global Waring’ isn’t about the planet earth, it’s about raising more taxes to fund Democrat causes and enrich wealthy liberal elitist.

Given her hysterical behavior, she apparently is worried that all the myths fabricated by the climate change cult will actually come to fruition. They must be busting a gut laughing at her naivety.

At this rate she will be a comet, lots of flash but short on life and effect.

Key will be the LEFTist Media and Culture, will they tire of her? She is photogenic and good for quotes to their issues. That may carry her some distance but will it keep her being elected from her NYC enclave?
