In a tight job market, some employers are making job offers after a single phone interview, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The tactic is one of many ways companies are trying to attract workers amid a nationwide labor shortage. Some employees who were offered jobs after one phone call wondered if it was a red flag or a scam.

This strategy is being seen mainly for seasonal jobs at retail companies such as Macy's and Bath & Body Works, but employees have also reported it happening for roles including teachers, engineers, and IT professionals, according to the Journal.
For employees, the practice might take some getting used to. Jamari Powell, a 22-year-old in Oregon, told the Journal that he was skeptical after being offered a full-time seasonal sales job at Macy's following a 25-minute phone interview....

Well, for the longest time employers were taking multiple interviews and months to decide.
Anyone in Orlando want to offer me a job at $20/HR or more, hit me up. Crazy strong credentials. Multiple degrees.

I’ve had to fill three jobs that were night and weekend jobs. If they showed up for the interview, passed the drug test, and said they would work the hours...they were hired.
Sounds like America to me. Supply and demand and even wage or salary increases...

I don’t see a tight IT job market at all.
The last US-based recruiter I talked to described was having trouble filling positions because the employer wanted new-hires in the office 5 days a week, while the candidates wanted remote work.
I just switched jobs, two days ago. I got a phone call asking for my res and at the same time they asked when I wanted to start. I was halfway joking and said today, they said come on in. ( I did have an inside reference though).
But yeah, it is full steam ahead around here.
50 pct of all employers require drug tests. That’s part of the problem.
Our grand kids and grand nephews/nieces, who had good paying jobs in the summer are getting great offers to work this Thanksgiving and Christmas from their summer bosses and others. Many are offering great discounts if they come to work.
