Just as the United Nations failed to condemn Hamas’s terrorist activities, it will undoubtedly fail to designate Hezbollah as a terrorist organization as Israel has requested, let alone take any action to stop Hezbollah’s aggressive behavior
The United Nations Security Council held a special session on Wednesday, requested by the United States and Israel, to discuss Hezbollah’s underground attack tunnels that penetrated the Blue Line, the border demarcation between Lebanon and Israel. The tunnels were recently discovered by the Israeli Defense Force. The UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) independently verified the presence of the tunnels, two of which it said had crossed the Blue Line into Israel. UNIFIL confirmed that these tunnels violated Security Council Resolution 1701, which the Security Council had unanimously agreed upon in 2006 after the 34-day Second Lebanon war. Briefing the Security Council, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, the UN Under-Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations, said, “While the tunnels do not appear thus far to have exit points on the Israeli side, they are a serious violation of resolution 1701.” Fortunately, Israel discovered the tunnels in time before Hezbollah was able to create an opening on the Israeli side of the Blue Line and send their terrorist forces into Israeli towns to kill or kidnap innocent Israeli civilians and take over parts of the Galilee.
The UN probably paid for the tunnels.
Israel is uncovering the 4th tunnel, but all that is mostly meaningless with the US pullout of Syria - the IDF will have to reorganize its units and plans to face the Iranian troops which can now come right up to the Golan border and Jordan’s border, and on top now have free access to the Med from Iran. Israel no faces an almost overwhelming existential military problem with this unplanned disaster.
Could Trump be pulling our troops from Syria to get them out of the way for Israel?
I’ve been predicting for 30 years that Iran vs Israel with Syria and Russia joining in against Israel would be the next real big war.
Because Bibi and Donald are close friends, I wouldn’t doubt that something is about to change once our troops withdraw.
Remember, Donald Trump is the 1st American President to give 100% support to Israel regarding defend herself. This is the unreported story of the Trump years. If you’ve followed the history of our relationship with Israel since its birth in 1948, every single President micromanaged Israel’s defense strategy. Now she is free of the carrot/stick that has always hung over her.
You can be sure the UN paid for these tunnels, probably complete with engineering drawings, component lists and instructions with a training program included in the package.
