If you're into plinking and a Kel-Tec fan, you should have a look at the Kel-Tec PMR-30.
Not a new gun, its been around since 2010, but its an ideal pistol for hiking, camping or just toss it into your tackle box.
This gun is a .22 caliber and most are usually in a revolver type. Kel-Tec PMR-30 is a full-size pistol chambered in .22 WMR also, considered a full size pistol.
Magazine Hi-Capacity
One of its main features is the high magazine capacity. The mag holds 30 rounds of .22 WMR. The pistol is slender, the magazine itself may be a little wide for the average male/female hand but it shouldn't big an issue.
Trigger
Features a single-action trigger pull at around 4 pounds, which is short and light. This is well suited for target shooting and plinking. Obviously its very accurate. Read the rest of Kel-tec PMR30.
I wanted to buy a Kel-Tec in .22WMR and my FFL dealer said to forget it - the trigger mechanism is all plastic and will wear out very quickly with no remedy. Plus it’s over priced.
Opinion: great to plink so one has familiarity with what will be a home defense pistol; using CCI hollow=point ammo, it is reliable, quite deadly, and easy to handle; do not recommend using foreign 22wmr because of harder primer strikes required.
Got one, $380 on second thousand rounds using A22 from CCI. Shoots great no feeding issues which can arise with the 22Mag. Going to put the reflex sight on it as a church gun.

The PMR-30 is fine for plinking, but never, NEVER trust your life on rimfire ammunition if you have any other option.
And at the cost and size of the PMR-30, you have lots of other options.
Also, the PMR-30 has issues with keyholing when using certain ammunition with specific weight bullets. Kel-Tec issued a voluntary recall barrel replacement for one with a higher twist rate which reduced, but did not eliminate, the keyholing problem.
The "plastic trigger" will last just fine. The shrouded hammer and sear, which are the wear surfaces, are metal.
And if you like the PMR-30, you'll love the carbine version CMR-30. Takes the same magazines.
Your story has one major inaccuracy. The PMR 30 is NOT a .22 caliber it is a .22 WMR that is a huge difference.

Off topic question here. I am farsighted so it’s difficult for me to sight my weapon in. I wear readers, but then I cannot see five feet past the gun. If this affects you, how do you compensate?
Great question, I struggle with the same. Thankfully I can use 1.0x readers to sight and can see a target within 30 yards.
At almost 60 years old, I struggle with the same thing. For range shooting, I wear +1.25 reading glasses so that I can get a hard focus on the FRONT sight, and the target is out of focus.
For self defense, I have a Viridian Laser on my Ruger LCP, and a Crimson Trace Laser on my S&W J Frame.
The advantage of the laser is that your focus is on the target, not the sights, and works with your regular street glasses.
