[vanity] Do you shop at Walmart.com? Breaking the Amazon habit
02/12/2019 | self

In the past I have made a conscious effort to avoid lefty/activist businesses that I am aware of. From pro football to monopolistic search engines, it hasn't always been easy. But just last week, I ordered off of Amazon three times! What could be worse than Amazon, and more highlighted recently by Bezos, who is the worlds richest man, doesn't feel he needs to conceal his politics, either within his organizations/businesses, or his own statements.

Why am I contributing to this?

I was curious who here shops walmart.com I have not yet done so. I believe I have reached a point where I am willing to give up the enormous selection and diverse availability over overtly provocative political leanings.

How well do you find walmart.com to be?

There are a lot of small businesses that sell their stuff through Amazon. There’s nothing wrong with supporting that.

Wal-Mart’s web site is not as easy to use as Amazon. But they seem to have a a good selection of stuff

I shop at neither but instead, choose to shop at smaller businesses in my community.

I have because local stores fail to stock adequately. They are always out of the same in demand stuff. Walmart delivered to my door free. Saves me time and gas and I get what nobody has the foresight to stock.

The ‘zon does very well for supplying parts for my jalopy collection.

Rarely do I buy anything from Wally World.

I bought two sets of tires on walmart.com last fall. They cost less there than anywhere else. They shipped to the local walmart where I had them installed.

But if you don’t buy from Amazon, Jeff Bezos won’t be able to get his penile enlargement surgery. Think of Bezos’s pecker.

Plenty of the same small businesses that market through Amazon also market through WalMart. I always check Walmart before buying from Amazon and prefer Walmart whenever I can. I also shop HomeDepot/Lowes instead of Amazon for those kinds of items.

I do a Walmart.com delivery once a month. Everything from paper towels to vitamins. Any hard goods we need I order from them. My daughter does their grocery delivery and loves it. Hasn’t been in a grocery store in a couple of years. If she runs out of stuff before the next delivery she does the pick up. I’m not there on the grocery stuff because I don’t like Walmart grocery but if I had to? You bet!
If I need something specific I also will order online and do pickup since I hate actual shopping at our Walmarts. Recently I ordered a new printer and picked it up 2 hours later.

They evacuated our Walmart today. Some kid smashed a fire extinguisher.
I avoid it like the plague. I can’t remember who I am supposed to boycott so I don’t even try.

Walmart.com is actually pretty good. I think for most things they have just as much as Amazon does. Prices are usually competitive. Website not as good but getting there

Walmart and Amazon prices are about the same. Amazon’s is easier to use. Amazon has free shipping at a lower point.

Walmart has free or even slightly discounted store pickup which if you live in a rural area like me, is not much of a big deal.

Free shipping often makes the difference to me.

I have shopped at Walmart.com when I didn’t have access to a car for non-food items. Delivery has always been great, receive package 1-2 days after I place an order and am very happy with them BUT there are some items I have noticed that are marked much higher than if you were to go into the store to purchase these. Shampoo and a few other paper goods are a good example.

I have used Wal Mart.com for shopping several times. It is as easy to use as any other website. Their product line is broad, many items on line not in the stores, but not as broad as the other online shopping sites.

They ship from several locations including drop ships from suppliers so your order may involve several packages delivered at different dates. Generally their shipping is very quick too, sometimes two days after an order.

I always bundle my purchases to get to the free shipping threshold ($50).

“Rarely do I buy anything from Wally World.”

May wife doesn’t even tell me when she goes to Walmart because just the thought of it makes my blood boil. LOL

Oh, and I’ve never been an Amazon fan. They’re always my last choice. I hit ebay first for other stuff.

The walmart.com search capability seems to be stuck in the 1990s.

I have. Never had a bad experience... Probably the most frustrating thing about Walmart is if you buy online, even if you ship to store, you can’t just go get an item off the shelves, but wait for the item you ordered to be delivered to the store.

Its not a killer thing, but it is a scratch your head things, as a customer. I understand the system logistics of their business model problem, but as a consumer, it just doesn’t make sense.

Wal-Mart does deliver fast, because they have such a wide geographical area covered by their distribution centers, and they offer the option of picking up the goods at the store, sometimes available same day, just go to the service desk.

And they do have connections with outside vendors as well.
