Under New Zealands new mandatory buyback confiscation law, owners of semi-automatic firearms have until September 30 to turn them in. But based on this Reuters report, authorities are expecting only a fraction of those who own the newly outlawed guns to comply. Police Deputy Police Commissioner Michael Clement told a news conference on Thursday that they are not sure how many guns they would receive as New Zealand has no law requiring people to register firearms.

Maybe the Kiwis have more testicular fortitude that I thought....
“Maybe the Kiwis have more testicular fortitude that I thought....”
They most assuredly do but have some horseshit politicians. Maybe they will fix that.
They deserve massive non compliance. A pathetic power grab by government using one psycho in a country of millions as an excuse to disarm law abiding citizens.
Not a problem, as long as those who would use them for criminal activity give them back.. /s
Well...the fake news told us that NZ folks were all just walking up and turning in their firearms after the muzzies were “killed”.
Did the fake news lie to us?
When was the last time the fake news told the truth?
So, civil disobedience or civil war?
KIWI’s are somewhat Rebellious.
Good on Ya ,Mate!
About two weeks ago, there was a single report of 39 turned in. A number of these however, were weapons that the deceased had in the basement and the wife just chose to get rid of them at this ‘opportune’ time.
Having been to NZ, I would suggest that beyond the five or six major cities....the rest of the country is fairly rural, and you could simply hide the weapons for the next twelve months, and then all the charm/hype will be gone and restore them to your farm house or shed. It’ll surprise me if they get over 500 weapons total.
You have to remember as well, probably every single policeman has his own personal collection, and they are the least likely to turn in their collection.
Deep State / Deep Pocket players are feathering their NZ safe rooms. The plan depends on a passive, submissive and defenseless public.
The people who do not turn their guns in are good people, there I said it, I must be a populist.
Good to hear.
Stand tall, Kiwis.

I’ll only have faith in NZ again, if at the next election, they massively turnover the government, and the new one repeals this gun confiscation. Then, I’ll start to have some respect return.
As I understand from a fellow gun owner in NZ, the “military-style semi-automatics” (read: not Cali compliant) *are* registered, and have been since the 90s. He also says the NZ gun community is mostly fudd central, and it wouldn’t surprise me if some of them rat out their fellow gun owners trying to hide anything, hoping the crocodile will eat them last.
I hope the gun owners tell the gubmint to ____ right off.
It worked in australia.
For decades in NZ, your average voter has given up fighting the Political Elite.
It is possible that this and Brexit might begin to change voters minds.
Well, I think we all know what comes next, door-to-door searches and confiscation. If a majority of owners decide not to comply with the new ban, imagine how they’ll respond to confiscation.
