Skip to comments.Iran needs to be stopped! But, how could it be carried out?

The United States announced that designated Irans Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO). There were some opinions about new events. Some have argued that there is going to be an escalation of relations between the United States and Iran because of the Trump administrations decision to designate the IRGC. However, this may not be the case at all when we consider past events and how Iran responds to different kinds of pressures and policies. History teaches us some lessons on this. We need to study the history of these mullahs to find out some facts and know how to deal with them accordingly. The Mullahs were completely passive during past Iranian dictatorship eras. The people cried for freedom and a better lifestyle for several times. The most significant on was 1979 Popular Uprising, which led to the last Pahlavi King in 1979. Irans behavior, when former President Barack Obama was in office, was appalling, especially considering how lightly the administration dealt with the regime. The Obama administration, desperate to get Iran to agree to a nuclear deal, appeased the Iranian regime to no end. It gave a number of concessions, far more than it should have done, and it promised that Iran would become more moderate as a result. However, this moderation never materialized and the regime, in fact, became emboldened. The regime realized that the Obama administration was going to ignore its acts of belligerence and it treated this silence as a green light to continue and as confirmation that it was not going to be challenged. Looking further back, the Iranian regime responded the same way during Iraq War. When the U.S. ignored or brushed aside Irans malign behavior, this is when its behavior worsened. After 2003, Iran was rather prudent in its actions because it was concerned that the U.S. would seek regime change in Iran. However, when it became clear that this was not what the United States was pursuing, the regimes behavior escalated. It carried out a series of assassinations and put its own military personnel in Iraq. As time went on, it became obvious that no one was going to hold Iran responsible for its actions, so it continued to become more and more belligerence. So much so, that it started up a proxy war. The IRGC undertook major operations to train, organize and arm a number of militias that went on to target the U.S. army. Even despite these attacks on U.S. military, Iran was still given the silent treatment. The U.S. knew that Iran was behind the attacks but it also feared an even bigger escalation, so its response was not as aggressive as it could have been. Treating Iran lightly to generate moderation, like what we are witnessing in Europe will never work because moderation within the regime is a complete myth. The regimes survival depends on the spread of chaos and fundamentalism. The only way to deal with the Iranian regime is with firmness and no hint of weakness. The Iranian people and their organized resistance are the only internal elements to complete this history lesson as far as the mullahs fears are concerned. There should be an ongoing maximum pressure on mullahs to take their right responses and they should listen to their own people too. The Resistance Units are well organized to mobilize the youths and the people. The ultimate solution for getting rid of the mullahs religious fascism in Iran is changing this illegitimate regime at the hands of the Iranian people and Resistance. Says the National Resistance of Irans President-Elect, Maryam Rajavi in response to The U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo declared in Cairo on Feb. 5, 2019. Members of Resistance Units, also in the countrys capital, mounted posters of Maryam Rajavi on public places wall to protest to the Mullahs Dictatorship and show signs as symbols of unity.
In Western Azerbaijan Province, Northwest Iran, members of Resistance Units set fire to and destroy a Khamenei poster and two of Basij Headquarters Main Gates. In Sistan & Baluchistan Province, southeast Iran, members of Resistance Unit set fire to a poster near a Basij base affiliated to the terrorist-designated IRGC. In an unprecedented move, the U.S. State Department recently blacklisted the IRGC as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).
In the city of Ardabil, also, northwest Iran, members of Resistance Unit, were able to paint over a large poster of the IRGC Basij, sending a message to the regimes units.
Thank you for the update from that region.
Maybe the Israelis should do it, if it needs to be done.
I’m tired of this country spending our treasure and blood in the M.E., and for what?
We cannot even defend our own southern border.
Cuba and related activity in the western hemisphere is a bigger threat to American lives than Iran...
Damn straight, my first thought was the Saudis, but in any case, unless they attack us (and why should we even put ourselves in a position for them to attack us?), then what they do is none of our business. Let Muslims kill Muslims and leave fewer of them for us to worry about.
The Iranian people, Persians not Arabs, were a western leaning, well educated centrist force in the Middle East. The Meulahs hosed that up and sent them down the Muzzie extremist alley. Given the opportunity and the material support, I don't doubt they would deal with the muzzie militants themselves.
The US military and the American taxpayers don't need another foreign war. Defend us, defend themselves when in the area but don't start sh#t. I've gone to one too many memorial services for brave young men who answered their countries call.
The US and Israel need to support the Iranian people, just as we do in Venezuela, but no boots on the ground.
Iran likes to capture US citizens and military and film them for propaganda purposes. They also like to play “chicken with large US military vessels and small boats.
I hope Iran misjudges and the B-52’s bomb the Iranian nuclear complexes into dust along with all military command and control centers.
I want the US to establish a no fly zone over Iran for at least a couple of months so we can bomb their military into the Stone age.
Hustorically, killing a bunch of people makes for change.
Iran putting missiles on boats (the present problem) is countered by destroying those boats, and killing the people on them.
Regime change? That’s up to those who support the regime.
I’d go along with a line of MOABs from Rasht to Amol to Mashhad...
...Then proceed South until you reach the Persian Gulf
If they haven’t come to their senses by the second or third string, write them off as slow learners.
PS, I’M about the same age as Clint Eastwood when he uttered that phrase:
Get Off My Lawn
(Probably explains some of my impatience with today’s messed up world)
Trumps already started it. The following site contains the listing for 126 companies that deal with Iran, even against sanctions:
As part of the 2015 nuclear deal, the Obama administration lifted a host of sanctions aimed at the Iranian economy. The move came as a relief to Iran, nowhere more so than in its oil and banking sectors: Iranian tankers once more gained access to European and Asian markets, and the country gained access to some $100 billion in assets that had been frozen overseas.
When Trump’s administration re-implemented the first major round of sanctions earlier this year, it slapped barriers on trade involving Iranian metals, as well as its automotive and airline industries. But Iran’s oil and banking sectors are expected to see the biggest impact from sanctions and those are precisely the areas his administration has recently targeted.
The White House says it is going after major oil exporters, shipping companies and major Iranian banks including the country’s Central Bank and other financial institutions. And it will also “target those who attempt to violate or circumvent the sanctions.”
So Trump is isolating them financially and cutting off their escape route. Tack that on to cutting off their food and medical imports that Obama gave back in 2015, and they will be forced to talk about acting properly. Ot they can starve to death. The choice is there’s.
but no boots on the ground.
Or perhaps we should just withdraw the handful of guys at Al-Tanf and allow the Iranians free access to build their ‘dream’ highway from Tehran to the Mediterranean?
Try using paragraph < p > (no spaces) next time - unreadable as it stands
Maximum pressure? Yes! But, then what? Bush had troops in Iraq and Afghanistan but didn't have them race to Teheran.

Nothing about running away from a fight or aggressively responding to attack.
Act of God?
Love, Lt. Ripley
This isnt a country. Its a headquarters mall for global corporations.
Yeah what’s this “WE”?
WE are 23 trillion in debt with a porous border.
Let Israel and Saudi Arabia and whomever else in the area that they cause trouble for take care of it.
Carlos the Jackal (AKA Illich Ramirriz Sanchez) once stated a view common to his ilk and subsequently put it in a book.
He felt that the only way to bring down the “west” was through a coalition of marxists and muslims; that islam nor marxism by theirselves could not do it , but an allegiance, a coalition of forces could.
This alliance is what produced the Iikes of BHO who smoothy went about death to America business from 1600 Pennsylvania.
During the 2016 elections we saw two things: Europe under attack both internally and externally while America was being attacked. Obama even flexed his newly installed totalitarian state’s muscle in protecting his hidden and nefarious agenda by attacking President Elect Trump.
America was and is still under attack.
