Amazon made an unexpected announcement Monday that's truly good news all around.
But the top beneficiary might just be President Donald J. Trump.
The online-slash-everything giant revealed Monday that it currently has 30,000 unfilled jobs in the United States, everything including (as the company said in a statement) things like:
entry-level roles at Amazon's fulfillment centers
software development engineer positions
computer vision scientists, and literally thousands of other positions
That's a lot of open jobs. We'll address how Amazon wants to fill them (and how to apply should you or a loved one be interested), below.
It's worth stepping back first to explore what the idea of adding 30,000 new Amazon employees to the labor rolls would mean.

Is 30,000 a lot for a company Amazon’s size?
They plan to hire 25,000 wherever they open their newest headquarters.
Hell I figure turnover hiring should be 100,000 at any given time
Good news for the 30-somethings still living with Ma and Pa.
Pretty good bet it wont be in New York.
Computer vision scientists? Who do I call?
Democrats Outraged!
Duluth, Dallas or Des Moines are more likely.
Those slackers won’t take those jobs, as they believe they’re all beneath them; even though their degree in XXXXXXX Studies qualifies them for NO jobs at all.
How long till they try to relocate to Beijing?
Pfffttttt! Our nearby JC Penny’s fulfilment center is seeking seasonal ‘team members’. Thriving upward bound comp........they’re what? Closing brick and mortar stores and on shakey ground? Lucky there’s an Amazon warehouse even closer. Which would fit bobby-frankee’s new “right” to live close to work .
Probably right.
Your JC Penny’s comment made me think of the fact that Sears and JC Penny SHOULD have been Amazon. They had the local stores and warehouses all over the country. How much of an infrastructure advantage did they have? Sears STARTED as a mail order company. Move their wishbook online, promise 2-3 day delivery, and they could have been Amazon.
You beat me to it.
It's OK though, none of AOC's constituents wanted a job.
Better news for Ma and Pa.
Blah! Everybody knows we are in the precipice of recession and companies all over are pulling in their horns.
Wait a minute! I thought the Amazon was burning up. Oh, THAT Amazon.
If they dont fill these jobs they will go for visas and illegals.
Known as the worst place in the world to work.
None of the people in the bronx would be getting those jobs. It would just have filled the bronx with H1Bs.
You see this in California now - California is losing people to other states every year, but its net population increases because tech companies are importing higher skilled/lower-cost foreigners to fill tech roles.
The bad news is they are opening some large scale operation in Skokie, illannoy. I don’t want any of Trump’s successes to benefit this wretched state.
