Why We’ll Have Evidence of Aliens—If They Exist—By 2035
Nautilus ^ | 10/4/2017 | Seth Shostak

I’m optimistic by nature—as a scientist, you have to be. But my hopeful feeling is not wishful thinking; it is firmly grounded in the logic of SETI. Half a century sounds like a long time, but the search is truly in its early days. Given the current state of SETI efforts and abilities, I feel that we’re on the cusp of learning something truly revolutionary.

Was that the global warming scientists or the nucular winter scientists?

WHAT MAKES EVERYONE THINK ANYTHING ELSE THAT EXISTS WANTS TO LEAVE ITS OWN PLANET!!?!

Maybe they figure what’s out there might suck so they leave it alone :)

If they were able to view the earth from a distance, i’m SURE of it :)

Baloney. Fat chance.

Greta has already informed us that Earth has less than 10 years to live.

How would any other life form outside of this solar system, looking at the Milky Way Galaxy , and how, if they happaned to be looking at our little neighborhood, The Virgo Super Cluster and viola! They happen to see our rather common garden variety sized star and then happen to see our tiny planet, a little smote of dust and water and say “There, that one! That one has life on it, lets go!’’. And they somehow have some miraculous, amazing craft to come light years through space just to see us. Nonsense.

The key to your statement is “the likelihood of FINDING” which has nothing to do with the likelihood of Existing. To be clear. Using statistics to prove or disprove anything is a fool’s errand. Absence of proof is not proof of absence. And explain the “tic-tacks” filmed, seen, and reported multiple times by the US Navy, please.

Some scientists have posited that ...

Some scientists have posited that manmade global warming is real and we are doomed.

Bogus science both

That’s beyond our solar system - they both exited some time ago and are now in “interstellar space”

Let’s not forget that there are 100 billion known galaxies at present - a number which may double soon.

Amen Doodle.

Many theorize that the Rapture (Harpazo) will be "explained" as a "Mass Alien Abduction Event."

I concur.

I believe God exists and God believes demons exist.

Why does God allow them to exist?

ANSWER:
Because an individual planet is not a guarantee of long term survival: ask the dinosaurs or the more recently deceased megafauna - both of which died from the same cause: large pieces of stuff falling out of the sky. Or that a given sun goes through cooling cycles which leaves its planets frozen for millions of years: see Snowball Earth.

Yes I know. I didn’t say they had just reached it. But those who conceived and built it never really imagined they would last as long as they have. The important take away is that they have found ne evidence of life. At least that we know of.

They never even imagined at the time they were launched that they would make it to the end of the solar system, let alone travel into interstellar space.

Don’t be silly! They would say,” Oh my, lookit! There’s a perfect place, unspoiled, pristine. What a wonderful place to vacation!” And they are Displaced at speed from the orbit of Pluto to the county of their choice, and return on the next scheduled passing ship by the same method.

Miraculous, amazing craft, you say? Culture GSV ships routinely carry millions of passengers to all sort of vacation spots, generally traveling in the neighborhood of 200 lights. You bumpkins are easily and amusingly amazed at any sort of common place tech.

They are not equipped to find evidence of life in the emptiness of the void, assuming some sort of free floating life form exists between planets or between solar systems. They could have passed a cow on skates and not have known it; they simply have no instruments to “see” such things.

Tough theological question. I’ll give you my answer. God desires to love and be loved. He created a world that included Angel’s and man . The Angel’s and man were given freedom to choose to obey god and the freedom to love God. Without that freedom his created beings cannot choose to love God or love his creation.

1 cor 13

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

So - 16 years from now, the question will have been settled and join the climate tragedy crap of ‘settled science’ as a way for idiots to pretend they’re smart because they’re “scientists”......”Ain’t no aliens and we should’ve all been dead 4 years ago - you can take that to the bank”....

The problem is when. Some scientists have posited that the amount of time a civilization with a comparable lifespan to ours has between developing radio and collapse from war/pollution/disease is 100-200 years.

I'll throw in a couple of other factors: If a species becomes technologically proficient as to develop radio as a medium of communication, it may be that the same species either develops some other means (leveraging quantum entanglement?) within 200 years, or perhaps recognizes that it might not be such a good idea to broadcast your existence out to a universe which is fundamentally hostile and/or hungry, and so they employ less leaky modes of communications (direct line of site lasers?)
