Coming soon to a team you root for, right now there is no stopping what's happening to this country.
The University of Florida President today issued a statement on how UF would address racial injustices going forward...I have no issue with that...
If you know anything about the University of Florida or have watched their teams play on TV, they are usually a top-10 program in most major sports, winning National Titles in Football, Basketball and Baseball in the last 15 years....
They have a cheer that was played by the Band and the fans would join in...
GATOR BAIT....
When Steve Spurrier was the Head Coach, outside of Heisman Winner Danny Wuerffel the most beloved player was Lawrence Wright a black player from Miami.
Besides being a great player, he had a slogan that was adopted by Gator Fans everywhere....
If Ain't a Gator, you are Gator Bait...
Not anymore...the phrase and cheer will no longer be used in any official capacity at UF....
You might ask what could possibly be racial about the term Gator Bait....
Evidently someone somewhere determined that during Slavery Black Babies were used to bait Alligators...
If they care about black babies why don’t they go after planned parenthood?

We are seeing a cultural revolution similar to the French revolution. This one won’t go well either, but may see the other side win this time (the adults).
One wonders how the University will enforce this. Students pretty much run the universities as it is now...

Been to uf football games many times...I guarantee fans will not stop chanting it. Prolly double down on it for sure. The president and whatever staff made this decision will not control this unbelievably ridiculous decision.

I think you’re supposed to use a treble-hook and troll for them off the back of the boat.
That would seem more ‘sporting’. LOL
I’m sure this will have the same effect as a similar situation at the University of Oklahoma. A few years ago, during the crowd singing of National Anthem at football games, when it got to the part...”Land of the Free, and the home of the brave” a small number of people in the crowd would sing it...”land of the free and the home of the Sooners.” Well, the university leadership, under the direction of former Governor and US Senator David Boren, then University President, made repeated media and pre-game announcements pleading with that small number of people to stop saying “Sooners” in place of “brave.” Well, after several days of media reports of Boren pleading with folks to stop, at the next game...and at every home football game since, guess what. Instead of a few thousand screaming “Sooners” instead of “brave” about 80,000 now sing “Land of the free and home of the Sooners.” If they had just ignored it and left it alone, it probably would have remained a small number. I never sang it as “Sooners” until after the uproar from the university leadership.
As an alumnus of Florida State, this pisses me off.
So done with College Football.
They tried to get rid of “We Are the Boys” years ago, to no avail.

I hope that all the Gator fans that attend games from now on will just wear that slogan out. I mean...t-shirts, signs, chants and anything else they can do. Just wear them out with it.
This will happen to every school one way or the other...
Read the wikipedia page for Doak Campbell, it clearly states he was adamantly against the admission of African American Students...
All it will take is one person complaining and it’s over...
Personally I don’t care because up to this point no one else cared either...
