Teen Gets 12 Years for Poisoning Milk (Wanted Revenge for Shaving Cream Placed in Her Hair!)

LAKEVIEW, Ore. (AP) - A 13-year-old girl convicted of attempting to kill two classmates by slipping rat poison into their milk was sentenced to up to 12 years in a juvenile detention center.

Holley Sweeney was ordered Friday to remain at the Hillcrest Girls' School in Salem until she is 25 with early release possible if she responds to treatment, the judge ruled.

Earlier this month, the judge found the Lakeview girl and her friend, Stephanie Quesnoy, 12, guilty of plotting and executing a plan to kill two classmates they disliked. Quesnoy is to be sentenced May 22.

The girls put d-Con rat poison in the milk of two classmates Sept. 19 during lunch at Daly Middle School. The victims noticed green crystalline pellets in the bottom of their milk cartons and neither was injured.

District Attorney David Schutt said the girls planned the poisoning to retaliate against the victims for putting shaving cream in Quesnoy and Sweeney's hair at a slumber party.

Both girls testified that they wanted their victims dead.

Schutt said a psychiatrist, who did not testify, determined Sweeney had trouble distinguishing right from wrong.

Well, that's a big shock, considering what this culture teaches kids!

"Well, that's a big shock, considering what this culture teaches kids!"

I am so conflicted by these kinds of reports.
I continue to homeschool for the specific reason (in part) to keep my children from being 'socialized' (the most common, and assinine argument).

How does a 12 year old get so screwed up that she/he would actually carry through with a "I wish you were dead" or "I'm going to kill you" statement?

Yeah, right ... I should put my kids in a government school because they need the 'social climate'.

Messing with a 13-year-old girl's hair? Idiots were just asking to die.

So at the age of 25 she will be in a juvenile detention center?

Good. Lock up a few more of these screwed up miscreants, and the other kids might get back in line.

Even better, congratulations to the judge for standing up for the two would-be dead girls. Can you imagine this crime?

Mom and Dad did a splendid job at teaching the girl, right from wrong...

First - grow up in Oregon where the governor belongs to Naral, where assisted suicide is legal. She was just attempting to carry out a post-birth abortion.

I have never got the "doesn't know right from wrong" defense.

If these kids don't know it is wrong to do wrong then why do they do it. In other words in this case, if she did not know it was wrong to poison the milk, that it would have an evil outcome, then why bother to do it? She did not poison her own milk. Why not if there is nothing wrong with it? She did not go out of the house naked to school because she knows that is wrong, etc. She is The Bad Seed.

You are absolutely right. My words of not knowing right from wrong, were said in more of a general sense. She knew it was wrong to do that. But the parents did not set a strong enough example to counter the 13 year-old(I wanna be me and get even, dilemma). And since the parents didn't set the example, the child perceives they can get away with it. More than likely, the parents are cheaters, and liars, and in my opinion, just all around, pigs. So where does the child go from there? But, that still doesn't mean there are no consequenses. There must always be strong consequenses for bad behavior, regardless of age...

I don't advocate this strong a retalitory measure, but I wish these bullies had gotten violently sick -- next time use Epicac(sp?), kid.

When you bully someone, you never know what you are going to get in return.
