I got to see Pirates 3 last night and I'm curious if anyone else did too? It was a fun movie but they really REALLY needed to cut about 45 minutes out.

I'm curious if anyone can explain to me the very end (after the credits) and the whole 10 year thingy.

I don’t think the dots really spoil anything (I don’t know how you did your spoilers, but reverse highlighting didn’t reveal them).

No I didn’t do any spoilers. I put that there in case anyone else did.

I would ask that those who have seen it not post anything directly about the movie.

As to the ending, please let us just leave it with telling people this:

If you go to the movie, be sure to sit through all the credits at the end, because after the credits there is a short “post-lude” to the story. It’s not long enough to say ANYTHING about it without potentially spoiling both it and the movie.

I’ll answer the poster privately.

Yes, my two children and I went to see the movie last night. I could have waited, but my daughter did not want to wait.

I liked it. I would say if you liked the 2nd movie, you will probably like the 3rd better. There’s more action, more special effects, more swashbuckling, more things getting blown up, more fights, more adventure.

It’s probably too long,(2:45), but I don’t remember any specific time when I thought “They could have really shortened THAT scene or just cut it out”. But if I think back I could see a good 10 minutes that you’d never miss.

I thought there was a lot of good laugh lines and gags, to break up the “tension”.

Johnny Depp is in my opinion a great actor, and he does very well in this movie playing some pretty involved parts. Orlando Bloom is Orlando Bloom, he’s not getting any better.

Lots of twists and turns, maybe the plot is too involved but there wasn’t much “what was that about” whispering in the theatre I was in (usually if a movie is too confusing, you’ll get a lot of people asking their neighbors what is going on).

If you want to see this movie, I recommend seeing it in the theater unless you have a really kickin’ home theater system. It’s a big-screen adventure, to be sure.

The story itself is rather weak, but so was the 2nd movie story. It does well enough, but I wouldn’t go see this for the drama or the story line.

Why in god's name? If Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom were topless standing side by side you couldn't tell which one was the woman.

I’ll admit I got a kick out of her commentary in the DVD, where she kept talking about how much cleavage they were able to give her and pointing out which scenes they didn’t pad her bra.

Keira doesn't have enough meat on her to spark my interest, but my wife this she's pretty.

For that reason alone I wouldn't kick her out of bed... ;-)

I really thought the "duplicates and rocks" scene with Depp could have been cut a LOT shorter.

I also had absolutely NO problem with Orlando Bloom, but I may be a little biased. :-)

My kids were cracking up during that whole scene, even though I agree it was a bit tedious for me.

My son says the captain of the Flying Dutchman can only touch shore once every ten years. I’ll be going again because there was just too much to absorb, and I missed lines because of rude audience members.

ok spoiler alert... here is the PC impression.

It is very much PC. The begining was an intentional BS UNhistorical ridiculous stab at the USA.

It is SLOW! There are plot holes which are absurd. The big horrible kraken was “just there dead”. Thats it. no battle no NOTHING.

Two great ships in battle with a WHOLE ARMADA on each side DOING NOTHING?!!

The plot writing was obviously phoned home. By the end of the first 1/2 hour you are hoping ALL the characters end up dead.

more spoiler, then yoiu have the homage to the 50 foot woman science fiction movie with the absurd “gaea lite” character. BUT THEN they sort of dump the whole love story with Davy Jones and twist it to something else with the Turner character.

Ok sorry for the rant but it is just not worth paying money.

It is a 1/2 posterior production. It might have occasional good special effects, but the characters are unbelivable and engender zero sympathy. The plot leaves holes you could drive a mac truck through and are not logical.

They might as well have borrowewd from monty python’s bicycle tour skit and just had “what an amazing escape” comment and chopped 2.75 hours off the movie.

HUGE dissapointment, I wish movies came with a money back guarantee.

It was a direct litany from an ABA criticism about club Gitmo.

The no jury, no habeas corpus, no trial was all pure commentary from various lawyer groups.

I pay THEM to be entertained. I do not pay to watch left wing lunatic propaganda.

It was a cheat. The only way to see pirates 3 is when it comes out on free TV or a bootleg falls off a truck into your lap.

Everyone keeps saying that? I don't get it? The EITC hanging pirates and all those associated is anti-US how?

Oh I get it now... But I think thats a stretch. Historically there were incidences of pirates being hung without trial, and for generally the same reasons terrorists don't get them. Because they fought under no national flag and did not obey international maritime law they were often not considered deserving of its considerations. However, by your logic this interpretation would lead to the conclusion that they are trying to make terrorism sympathetic by equating Jack Sparrow with Ben Laden. I don't care how "anti-American" most of Hollywood is, that's a stretch. There comes a time where these accusations of unpatriotic activities become subject to reductio ad abserdem themselves.
