Do you know of any US laws that are disapporoved of by other nations, yet other nations may have that very same law?

I'm asking because at another forum that persists in bashing the USA, it was mentioned that NZ has a 'speak English'.

I'm not sure if they mean its a law or just what, but it got me to thinking.

Doesn't France have a law banning the muslim head scarf? Or was that repealed?

Can you imagine if the USA tried to pass a law banning the scarves?

Anyway, I was just wondering if there were any laws that the US has that gets the US in trouble while other countries get a pass?

Well the US has a death penalty which many countries look down on, but Islamic countries routinely put people to death, especially women, for any idiotic religious reason and nobody cares.

Good one! I did look at those several times last year, but forgot about them. Thanks for the reminder. :)

I just get kind of tired of everything being the USA's fault. We are wrong for being in Iraq and we are wrong for not going itno Darfur. It just seems that we can't please some people, no matter what we do.

Well, we have religious freedom in this country.
Saudi Arabia does not have such freedom. There are no churches or synagogues allowed in the Kingdom.
But if Saudis come here, they insist that their Muslim beliefs be accommodated.

They like our law and they disagree with our law.

That’s “Blame America first” — Jeanne Kirkpatrick recognized it a long time ago. Whatever we do, we’re in the wrong.

I always like how the people of Portugal, Spain, Britain, Belgium, et all label the US imperialist. You know, the countries that looted Africa, the Caribbean, South America, etc. objecting to our colonization of... I don’t know Guam or something.

Good point! Actually, this how that thread got going. Someone posted about the UK and sharia law, but it keeps going back to the rotten USA trying to force their beliefs on people in Iraq.

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about.

You and I my friend, spent many years of our adult lives serving her majesty, and willing to lay down our lives for freedom and democracy, and for what? So a weak, spineless government, can adopt FOREIGN customs and laws - either that, or they join forces with George Bush on his genocidal world domination!

Religion is, always has been, and always will be, the root cause of most of the worlds problems. One group of people insisting that their doctrines are right and everyone else's are wrong. On the one hand we have the Muslim community saying that the teachings of Allah contained in the Koran, as being the "Right way", and on the other hand we have the so called western world led by the USA saying that "Gods way" is the right way ..........

Who is right and who is wrong? Simple truth ... NEITHER are right and neither are wrong - and NEITHER have the right to attempt to FORCE their beliefs upon others, so when the USA invades Iraq saying "In God we Trust" they are no different to the Muslims quoting THEIR beliefs from the Koran .........

The only difference between USA and IRAQ, is that USA has the Army, Navy, and Air Force, big enough to force them, or ANY country into submission. Reminds me of a little man with a black moustache .............. thankfully, he got his butt kicked.

Most of the European Union, Japan, Mexico and Canada disapprove of the Death Penalty and refuse to extradite fugitives who could face it.

Unfortunately, some dimwits don't see the problem there. They think dual laws are peachy. I suspect that those that want sharia and most specifically the marriage, divorce an financial parts of it, want it so they can keep the women from thinking they are human. jmo

But, yes, I think you make a good point. Imagine if the USA decided to ban mosques.

Ya.... Feel free.

The thing these pin heads don’t understand is that if the terrible U S of Friggin A does not tackle islamofachists... these Nevillite’s children will be buggering goats, bowing to Mecca, and speaking Arabic.

Even when they do get it, they still have more angst for the US than for the extremists.

Even when they do get it, they still have more pure raw hate based upon jealousy of  the US than angst for the extremists.

I changed your stuff a bit.   I think this is  more accurate.

Your right.

Here's a question. How long can the UK straddle the fence? How long until they have to choose between the EU and the US? And which way do you think they would go?

Try being a drunk in Iran. They will hang you. Some Arab countries don’t like their women to show their face in public, or drive. Women can be killed for such transgressions.
