LOS ANGELES, April 10 (UPI) -- The son of the man who directed the 1959 Hollywood film classic "Ben-Hur" said he is producing a new version of the story as a $30 million TV miniseries.
David Wyler, son of director William Wyler, is producing the remake with Alchemy TV, Variety.com reported Thursday.....

LOL!
I suppose they will make Ben Hur and Messala into gay ex-lovers as well.
This has FAILURE written all over it. I guess some people will never learn that Jesus Christ is LORD and savior until it is too late but God is not mocked. There is a day coming in which EVERY knee WILL bow and EVERY tongue WILL confesses that "Jesus Christ is Lord" to the glory of God.
According to Gore Vidal (who did some script re-writes), the 1959 version had that already.
That was Gore Vidal’s take on the original script, which he had a hand in.

How the 'heck' can you remake "Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ" without .. (drum roll) ... RELIGION!
Man-oh man I can see the cast now...
Judah Ben-Hur: Ben AFLAC (quack)
Quintus Arrius: Mike Myers (doing his Austin Powers voice)
Esther: Susan Saranwrap
Messala: Alec Baldwin
Sheik Ilderim: oops scratch that role, might offend Arabs
Miriam: Madonna
Tirzah: J-Lo
Simonides: Billy Crystal
Balthasar (Narrator in pre-credits sequence): The GEICO voice over guy
Pontius Pilate: Tim Robbins
Jesus: oops cut that - no Religion in this movie.Oh, and that whole Chariot Race thing has to go. Let's make that a Gay Rodeo instead. And 'Romans', yawn - too passe. We'll make them ... Nazis!
Yep a real blockbuster.
(this Wyler kid needs a real job)
