MORFORD: Is Obama an enlightened being?
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 6/6/8 | Mark Morford

Posted on 06/06/2008 7:39:16 AM PDT by SmithL

Spiritual wise ones say: This sure ain't no ordinary politician. You buying it?

I find I'm having this discussion, this weird little debate, more and more, with colleagues, with readers, with liberals and moderates and miserable, deeply depressed Republicans and spiritually amped persons of all shapes and stripes and I'm having it in particular with those who seem confused, angry, unsure, thoroughly nonplussed, as they all ask me the same thing: What the hell's the big deal about Obama?

I, of course, have an answer. Sort of.

Warning: If you are a rigid pragmatist/literalist, itchingly evangelical, a scowler, a doubter, a burned-out former '60s radical with no hope left, or are otherwise unable or unwilling to parse alternative New Age speak, click away right now, because you ain't gonna like this one little bit.

Ready? It goes likes this:

Barack Obama isn't really one of us. Not in the normal way, anyway.

This is what I find myself offering up more and more in response to the whiners and the frowners and to those with broken or sadly dysfunctional karmic antennae - or no antennae at all - to all those who just don't understand and maybe even actively recoil against all this chatter about Obama's aura and feel and MLK/JFK-like vibe.

To them I say, all right, you want to know what it is? The appeal, the pull, the ethereal and magical thing that seems to enthrall millions of people from all over the world, that keeps opening up and firing into new channels of the culture normally completely unaffected by politics?

No, it's not merely his youthful vigor, or handsomeness, or even inspiring rhetoric.

Has Morford recently gotten into strangulation games? He seems more oxygen deprived than usual.

Many spiritually advanced people I know (not coweringly religious, mind you, but deeply spiritual) identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment.

The Obamessiah has arrived. Let the liberals pray.

Is Obama an enlightened being?

Not unless you call being guided by satan 'enlightened'.

Morford is basically saying that Obama is the Anti-christ and that he welcomes his new overlord.

O’Bama is enlightened but not yet on the Board of Directors. McCain is on the Board of Directors.

He's an "Orator". And despite everyone excusing his Muslim background...The similarity between "Total control" of the people....unless they bend to his rules (dreams)...is disturbing.

I believe "Dreams" is a big part of the Koran....and remember the Muslim who went to Usama and said: "I had a dream about planes...And Usama said: Shhhhh"

A rider on a pale horse, searchlights turned upward at night and called the dawn, Sieg Heil, how could it happen, how could it happen here?

Well, he at least has two correct (if taken completely out of context) statements in the article:

"a big global group hug with Obama as some sort of happy hippie camp counselor"

and

"Don't buy any of it? Think that's all a bunch of tofu-sucking New Agey bulls-- and Obama is really a dangerously elitist political salesman whose inexperience will lead us further into darkness because, when you're talking national politics, nothing, really, ever changes? I understand. I get it."

This fits right in with the leftist paradigm that humans are not inherently flawed sinners but are perfectable beings. Being perfectABLE means that some are more perfect and enlightened than others. These people have the right and obligation to make all of our decisions for us.

The other view of humans as inherently flawed sinners warns that empowering a person with this much power is VERY dangerous.

These kinds of people actually help us evolve.

There is nothing new under the sun. We have to re-learn that once in a while, usually at great expense.

BTW, if Obama is so new and improved, why is he still running against Bush?

Hitler was also said to be bringing in a new era where the human race would evolve into something greater.

The KKK aspired to similar goals.

Why is it that every time some idiot decides that we can "make humans better" that lots and lots of people have to get killed in the process?

And why is it that humans keep falling for this same lunacy?

Can some liberal PLEASE tell me when the last time this actually happened? I assume Buddha and some other PC religious figure would qualify under Morford's definition here. Can anyone tell us how much better behaved central Asian cultures have been since Buddha? Did the Killing Fields in Cambodia not happen? Did Communists not intentionally starve millions in several Asian nations? Are land wars in Asia generally not known to be particularly vicious? I'd make an argument that Asian behavior is worse now than it was before Buddha's era.

"To them I say, all right, you want to know what it is? "

It's a media who crushes anyone who says anything bad about Obama and a media who buries the endless ignorant things Obama says.

Not too hard to figure out there Mr Morford. Next time write your article without your boyfriend on your lap.

I simply have to be stuck in a coma and am dreaming about all these people who think Obama is some sort of nether worldly messiah...I simply cannot believe something like this is happening and it’s from modern times not the time when mystics thought the Earth was the center of the universe...

Nobama came from one of the impregnated female aliens on the space ship that landed on Los Alamos some years ago, he was in an egg that took some years to hatch. She came from the planet LaLa P where the inhabitants gave birth to eggs which incubated for some 20 years. These who came from eggs were born fully knowledgeable but no knowledge of American history, the reason for so many nobama gaffes about out country. The planet LaLa P did not have a military, as we know it, this is the reason nobama wants to rid this world of military. I think this little learning editorial makes as much sense as the one Mordford wrote.
