An Annual Celebration?: Heller Day
Self | 6/28/08 | Marie2

I have never posted a vanity, so I hope I did this correctly - I'd like to propost that every year, June 26 be recognized by lovers of freedom everywhere as "Heller Day." We could all gather our loved ones for a day of target practice and have a barbecue or something. Let's all remember the day that the Supreme Court declared the obvious: we have an individual right to bear arms.

TOPICS: Military/Veterans; Outdoors; Society; Sports
KEYWORDS: 2ndamendment; banglist; guns; heller; secondamendment
We could great each other with "Happy Heller Day."

And wear our gun rights t-shirts.

And hunt. And carry.

“Second Amendment Day” would be more meaningful, but it’s a good idea to celebrate this long-delayed, though painfully fragile, decision.

But “Happy Heller Day” has a better ring to it than “Happy Second Amendment Day.”

In a few years, if we do this right, Family Circle will have recipes for gun-shaped cakes to take to the picnics.

Since it is John Illsley’s birthday we could have Dire Straits theme music .

And we could combine it with an old idea of mine, National Gun Swap Day, in which people would meet at designated public locations and anonymously swap guns, with no records of any kind. Do this on a large enough scale, and it will make mincemeat of all federal and state programs to track and trace ownership of specific guns. It will also be very difficult to prosecute, since it won’t be possible to identify more than one of the two parties to any swap, nor to determine whether the swap involved transporting the gun across state lines or residents of more than one state.

Reading all the posts here today about the WaPo and that Allen broad clearly demonstrates the importance of this decision by the Supreme Court. Up until today, I thought we were dealing with Marxists and Communists in this country. It now appears to me that we are dealing with people who are similar to the more dangerous Nazis.

It could also be a day when we all donate or do fund raiser stuff for GOA and NRA, etc.

“Teach A Kid Gun Safety” outreaches.

Distribute Eddie Eagle videos.

The possibilities are endless.

Instead of the GOA, consider the Second Amendment Foundation. They are already suing Chicago and they were with the NRA for the Katrina victims.

I was thinking that a great idea for a T-shirt would be the NRA (or GOA, JPFO, SAF, etc.) logo and written across the shirt "Give 'em Heller boys!"

I think we should call June 26th "H-Day". Next year we should refer to June 26th as "H-Day +1" and the year after that "H-Day +2", etc.

Someone said a couple of months ago that this decision is going to be like D-Day. This is a legal beachhead. This is not the end of the war, but possibly the beginning of the end for the Nazi's. I think the analogy is very apt.
