Overton, Texas (AP) -- An 82-year-old man has been charged with reckless driving after being accused of barreling his pickup truck into a Cub Scout troop at a Christmas parade in Texas.
Overton officials say Charles George was arraigned Tuesday and has relinquished his license as a condition of his bond.
George is accused of going around a barricade near downtown Overton on Monday evening and ramming into the lined-up Scouts.

70+ year old drivers should have to take the driving exam yearly to keep their license.
My 80+ year old dad insists on driving.
It scares the hell out of me.
I live in Texas but had not heard about this. My mother is 81 and still drives and her husband is 84 or 85 and still drives. We do not ride in the car with them.

Would I be completely out of line by guessing that some of article comments from the libs in San Fransicko are gleeful?
hope this guy is punished severly, hope he gets sued, hope his insurance company gets hit very bad, because I want some accountability for these drivers.....
this was a deliberate act....he can't use the famed "I accidentally hit the gas pedal by mistake" crap or "the pedal stuck"....
however, maybe some limits on these older drivers....like only during the daytime or maybe insisting on more refresher classes.....
I don't know the solution....elderly love their independence and I don't blame them....
What good does that do when the article seems to indicate it was a deliberate act? Have wondered about this...
