ECLIPSE opened in excess of $30M from 12:01 AM and 3 AM screenings at over 4,000 North American theaters today for a new record. It bested the midnights record of New Moon's $26.3M. IMAX also set a midnights record, taking in over $1M at 192 theaters and besting Transformers 2's $959K.

Good question about how much self-respect a guy is willing to lose to get some, hee hee.
Every female in my house (4) plus their friends (3) went to the midnight showing. 10 of the theatres in the complex were dedicated to showing this movie, seating around 1500 people. I was told it was packed out.
I’ll wait for the kids to buy the boxed Blu-ray DVD set...

I went to my theater this morning to pick up tickets for tonight’s midnight showing of THE LAST AIRBENDER. The theater was WRAPPED UP with women @ 11AM standing in line in the rain to get tix to ECLIPSE. I’m a huge movie fan but this is one phenomenon I just don’t get. The books are juvenile. The movies are mediocre. But it’s an absolute craze. Go figger.

My wife an I caught Harry Potter fever, but we never stood in line to see it.
But this Twilight thing I just don’t get. I read the first book, and I’m not sure it was much better than the movie.
