After getting frustrated out of the lemons his problems gave him, David Miller made his own corporate lemonade. Due to the frustration of always having to call technical support to solve his own frequent hardware problems, he started taking the initiative to educate himself.

Great story.

One comment though about this quote from the article...

He and a friend talked about it and realized it would be a good idea to partner up in a company based on his ability to build and refurbish his source of used personal computers and laptops at no more than a wholesale cost. After a third scheduled meeting was not attended by his friend, he decided to go it alone.
While it is human nature to want companionship when embarking on a new challenge (things don't seem so frightening when you have a partner and your company seems so much more likely to succeed with a wider array of services and experience), I strongly recommend against it as a practical matter.

It is impossible up front to know if you are evenly yoked or even what kind of person your partner will be when the chips are down.

Instead of partnering, I recommend forming a flexible symbiotic business relationship. Each person owns his own company but relies on the other to the extent there is value.

Over time, a person owning his own company will most likely form a long list of informal business relationships that can both feed him business and to whom he can direct business.

Good for him. Now in the interests of fairness and social justice he needs to be taxed and regulated relentlessly and frivolously litigated into oblivion. That will teach him to not be independent from the government.

Your sarcasm is sadly too close to reality.
