Long gone are the days when Marcia Bradys sweet smile and Winnie Coopers brains and beauty were how television represented teen-age girls. According to a new study conducted by the Parents Television Council (PTC), Hollywood is shockingly obsessed with sexualizing teen girls, to the point where underage female characters are shown participating in an even higher percentage of sexual situations than their adult counterparts: 47 percent to 29 percent respectively

We are all shocked. right?
The Fox broadcast network is no different.
At least we aren’t like Japan, YET
This was going on long before Miley Cyrus. I think it all started with Full House, IMO one of the worst shows ever made.
“The Fox broadcast network is no different.”
Aside from being owned by Rupert Murdoch, the Fox Network is a totally separate entity from Fox News. Hence, it can have extreme left-wing shows like Family Guy. I used to watch the Simpsons, but mostly gave up because sadly they seem to be trying as of late to imitate FG.
Murdoch is a very savvy businessman. He figures that he’ll have a conservative news channel because there’s more of a market for it (as evidenced by CNN and MSNBC’s pitiful ratings) and a liberal TV network because those who watch that sort of thing more often tend to have such political views.
Indeed. The ‘schoolgirl’ obsession over there is near to universal.
The entertainment industry, in general, through music, movies, and TV, exploits our youth. The schools don’t help, either, with their sex education and gay student clubs. If you’re a parent, you need to fill your children’s lives with Scripture, church activities, sports, Scouting, etc., or Viacom is going to shape your children.
Its a lot worse than that.
There are U15 shops all over. That stands for “Under 15”, magazines and DVD’s of girls under 15 in the skimpiest thongs possible in the raunchiest poses. Girls as young as 7. You could call it “Pre-porn”.
There are also “love hotels” and cafes that cater to underage prostitutes, you know hold the money for them so the john won’t rip them off afterwards. Its seen by girls as an acceptable way to earn spending money (in that perverted culture its no wonder they’d think that)
If you would’ve said Facts of Life, I would’ve agreed, but Full House? My childhood memories are hazy, but I don’t recall that show being anything but very PC.
My sister thinks FH was awesome. I couldn’t stand it, in large part because I can’t stand the Olsen Twins.
On a slightly different note, I remember some book I found in an antique shop from the early ‘80s called “The Death of Childhood” or something like that. It wasn’t a very good book. The author went around attacking video games and other stuff she maintained “corrupted” today’s youth. What really struck me as odd was her trashing of Judy Blume for representing all that was wrong with contemporary children’s literature.
Aw come on, lady. I read “Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing” when I was a kid. Boy, that was sure the devil’s writing (sarcasm).

Ah yes, Japan. The country where you can get on a bus and see respectable middle-aged businessmen reading comic books with teenage girls being raped by tentacled space creatures.
I hated the show too, but I don’t remember the girls being sexualized.
Ok, maybe I got a little carried away. FH still sucked mightily.
This is Muslum influence creeping into American culture.
Who is Winnie Cooper? Hanging with Mr. Cooper? No? Help me, I feel older every day. Sometimes like every 15 minutes!
A bit tangental but I think humor would sell more products than sex. I know I like funny TV ads better than sexy ones. And I think a teenage girl who is funny, very clever and wholesomely pretty rather than half naked and seductive s far more enjoyable to watch.
Confidence, a great sense of humor and good health and grooming a what makes a young girl, or anyone, attractive.
Best thing about Full House was Lori Loughlin - I always thought she was the best looking woman on TV, and didn’t have to be slutty to do it.
“People wonder why Japan’s population is declining”
Yeah, they’re going to have a shortage of young girls for these erotic magazines.
