I remember all through Clinton's presidency, reading posts where he was supposedly one day away from declaring martial law or he was going to declare martial law so he didn't have to leave office in 2000 etc. I remember the same posts by the left on DU and DailyKos about Bush during his presidency.

The fact of the matter is no President, Democrat or Republican, is going to declare martial law for anything short of a foreign invasion or massive internal uprising. Quite frankly, because any president who did it for a "trivial" or "political" reason, would immediately see their approval rating cut in half. Be savaged by both the liberal and conservative media. See massive protests all over the country. See impeachment proceeding start in the congress. And most have likely have their orders simply ignored by military leaders and police forces across the country.

I don’t think there is any step too radical that he could take which would cause the lib msm to turn against him. they are all in and will do/say whatever it takes, no matter how ridiculous it may sound and they’ll do it with a straight face.
