A 10-year-old Aiken trick-or-treater pulled a gun on a woman who said she would take his candy on Halloween.

According to a police incident report, the 28-year-old victim told authorities she recognized some boys from her neighborhood while they were trick or treating near Schroeder and George streets around 6:30 p.m. and jokingly told them she would take their candy.

One 10-year-old in the group of approximately 10 juveniles responded with “no you’re not ...” and then pointed a 9mm handgun at her.

According to Aiken Public Safety Lt. David Turno, the clip was not in the gun at the time, but the boy did have the loaded clip in his possession.

The boy’s brother, also 10, told authorities he also had a gun. The second weapon was recovered this morning.

The boy who pulled the weapon was brought to the police station where he was turned over to the custody of his parents.

Turno said the boys obtained the weapons from their grandfather without permission.

I am sure the kid did not know the difference between a real and play gun, and I blame the grandfather he should have had the thing under lock and key. I love the kids spirit however. Has a future in the NRA if guided correctly.

Now America tell that to Congress “no you’re not ...”

Turno said the boys obtained the weapons from their grandfather without permission.

That is some pretty poor writing right there, that is.

One could read that sentence to mean that the boys were given the firearms by there grandfather without the permission of the parents.

Certainly what the writer intends to convey is that the children stole the firearms from their grandfather.

They must teach the ‘clip’ term in journalism school. Its almost universal.

I honestly used to make the same mistake until I started coming to FR. Now the difference is so ingrained in me it’s become a pet peeve when I see a writer make the mistake.

I hope that in the future she thinks twice before trying to steal some kid’s candy.

Returned to the real source of this crime. That'll work.

Hahahahaa!!! Good one!

Clearly, that hand crossbow is one of those ‘plastic gun’ Glocks designed to be undetectable by airport metal detectors

/1980s anti-gun propaganda.

If that was my kid he’d be in big trouble for going out without ammunition.

You have to be a damn fool to be 10 and not know the difference between a real and a play gun. Especially if you are carrying the clip. I think he knew.

Love the kid’s spirit? He can’t tell the difference between a toy and a real gun, and can’t tell the difference between a joke and a threat? I don’t want that kid anywhere near a gun. Ever.

(if you were just too subtle for me with the sarcasm, oops)

With the way kids are raised these days it is hard to tell. Either way it is the grandfather’s fault for not having the thing under lock and key.

The “spirit” I was referring to was the fact that he was not gonna allow someone to steal from him. Not the fact that he was too young to know the difference between a joke and a real hold up. If the kid was/is taught correctly he could grow up to be Bernie Geotz. It is all in teaching the kid and that was the grandfather’s responsibilty. Grandpa needs to improve.
