Coast to Coast Sunday, Nov 20th
Coast to Coast ^

Posted on 11/20/2011 12:58:55 PM PST by djf

First half of show this evening discusses massive fraud and mismanagement in the financial sector.

Second half will cover possible social breakdown scenarios and preparedness.

Dishonest Finance/ Social Collapse Sun 11-20

In the first half, Associate Professor of Economics and Law, William Black, joins George Knapp for a discussion on how dishonest CEOs, crony directors, and corrupt middlemen can systematically defeat market discipline and conceal deliberate fraud for a long time -- enough to create massive damage.

In the latter half, engineer, author and building contractor, Mat Stein talks about preparing for social collapse, environmental catastrophes and inevitable disasters.

I’m not on your preppers list, so might as well... even though I see 90% of your threads or better!

Thanks!

Dollar General has Libby brand canned vegetables on sale for $.40/can. I might rotate my stock out a little early to cash in on this deal.

Thanks for the heads up on that.

That's a much better buy than Aldi's or generics.

We haven't bought any Libby's in a while but as I recall their veggies were comparable to other brands.

Doesn’t hurt at all having canned veggies stashed.

But the more I think about it, the more I tend towards carbs/beans.

The reason? n average human doesn’t need a huge amount of protein. A can of tuna will be enough for a day for the average person, as long as they are not hugely physically active.

But you need calories. Just to maintain your body temps if nothing else.

And I think most canned VG’s will give you fiber, some vitamins, calcium, phosphorous, but not much in the carbs or protein department.

Sam's sells a box of two-to-a-pack granola bars in 32 count for a very reasonable price. A person can sustain life for two or three weeks on just those bars, if there is sufficient clean water too. Beans, the canned porkies and chili type are indeed an excellent source of carbs (and the intestinal dance and music can keep some folks entertained). A few cans of green beans can also supplement vital minerals and vitamins not found in the chili beans. Canned corn is also useful for certain higher concentrations of particular minerals.

Seems that every year around these parts we get a chance to pratice 'survival skills and plans when the electricity goes off for a few days due to snow and downed power lines. A particularly difficult episode caused me to order a water bladder for the tub, so a sufficient supply of clean water was available ... the power to water pumping station went off and the gravity delivery of the water tower ran too low for pressure up to my house.

We have beans as well. My son is the only three-year-old that doesn’t eat chips at Chipotle. He shovels the black beans and rice as quickly as he can. I chose to go with canned beans. I do have some dried, but I decided that in a SHTF scenario water would be precious and canned beans obviously don’t need rehydrated. I’m going to grow turtle beans and navy beans this year as well.

Coast to coast charges you for being an ‘insider’ and to download their podcasts. Mark Levin is the ONLY national talker that offers his podcasts for free! Mark Levin Rocks! He should be downloaded by anyone on this forum if he’s not broadcasted in your area.

If anyone knows of another national talker that offers their programs free, let me know. I know I’m not spending $50 or so a year apiece for them to listen to their shows. They can pound sand, they just repeat everyone else. They’re loosing audience. For example, Ingraham and Hewett aren’t worth it. Even Fred Thompson went pay for podcasts? Really? Fred Thompson? Like he’s in a huge market.

WMAL, Chris Plante. Google him.
