There was a thread on this a few days ago. Someone explained that there are a number of beggars, but just all are the ultra-Orthodox Jews that have large families but don’t work — they spend just about all their time reading and studying religious texts.

That is an exceptional situation. Israel is quite socialist - I do not believe there is any kind of serious hunger problem there and I and others are extremely suspicious about this charity.

There are a lot of refugee Jews in Israel from all over the world. I was in Sderot two years ago with a charity helping to handout food. In that area a lot of business have pulled out due to the rocket attacks so there's no work. The charity I was with was the Joshua Fund and they don't advertise.

Same thing here! I found that whiney, lisping Rabbi doing the narrating so thoroughly disingenuous and annoying that I just change the channel every time he comes on...
