My uncle declined every Mensa invite they offered him. :p He didn't have anything nice to say about them at all! But he was also very grouchy and I always thought it was nicer to be happy and stupid than brilliant and bitter, like him. Anyway, I have to disagree with your assessment of Obama. I have not seen a single indication of him being an "over achiever". I believe he was groomed and carried his entire life. I would agree with Clinton on this one and classify Obama as the ultimate "amateur" with extreme narcissistic tendencies.

Tell me about it. I was a member of MENSA for a little over a year. Went to TWO meetings, two separate groups, and immediately knew it was not going to be a good thing after either one. Especially after admitting (1) that I was a military officer (2)that I was a Conservative, and (3)that I owned guns.
The first group found conversation about BDSM sexuality of high interest. In fact, they seemed obsessed about it. When invited to come downstairs to “the Dungeon”, I looked at my watch, made an excuse, and left quickly. Hearing snickers about “stupid Republican vanillas”. . .
The second one IMMEDIATELY inquired into my politics, and basically told me to leave and not come back, I obviously wasn’t really MENSA material. . . .

Good man. So did I. I thought they were odd.
Caveat: In retrospect, I see that I am, too.
