DH stocked up his little mini beer refrigerator last night so I’m drinking one of his Tall Grass Buffalo Sweat Oatmeal Cream Stouts. Yum. My favorites are stouts, porters and double bocks.

I like the dark brews also - stouts and porters, etc.

I drink Oak Leaf (sold at Walmart for $3 a bottle) The Cabernet is quite drinkable.

I’ve made beer twice; 2nd time was not as good as the first. Then, I realized I hate waiting and others make it better than me...thus, moved to the craft/micro stuff. Would it be ok w/ the thread initiator if we moved into discussion about favorite microbrews, tours of craft brewers, and tastes, etc.? I could discuss this for hours. I am officially a BEER SNOB, and proud of it. Small business USA, baby!

Small, but hyper-important correction...US-microbeer...I don’t give a rat’s butt about European or any non-US microbeer. We have the best in the US, even if some of the dweebs are headed by nearly commies...yeah, kind of like Ben and Jerry types...you know, Seattle brewers.

My wife tells me that WalMart owns a good portion of the Oak Leaf winery. I have a bottle of their Sauvignon Blanc and a bottle of Cabernet.

You are welcome to discuss any thing you like on this thread. I am sure FReepers would be very interested in having your input and knowledge on microbrews and craft brewers.

Awesome.

Here’s a start...I love Dogfishhead Brewing Company...they’re pricey, but are great. My favorite microbeer right now is Raison D’etre...no, it’s not French (I wouldn’t buy it if it was)...what an ale! Anything they do is great. In Cincinnati, we have a microbrewery called, Rivertown Brewing...Their Roebling Vanilla Porter is named after the Roebling Bridge...awesome...here’s trivia...

Our bridge was built by Roebling, and so was the Brooklyn Bridge...ours??? Yep, built first. Roebling then built the copy, the Brooklyn bridge.

Goose Island
Rivertown
Sierra Nevada
DogFishHead

All great.

Ales are where it’s at (in this category are: Porters, Stouts, IPAs, Nutbrowns, Scottish)...

Fun discussion...

Anyone else have some favorites?

I found a couple of Samuel Adams limited release brews that I really like, “Dark Depths Baltic IPA” and “Third Voyage Double IPA”

I live in Mississippi, the land of almost no beer. I was wondering if anyone is interest in trading different beers and homebrews? I just bottled a Surly Bender clone today and plan to brew an Imperial IPA next week. Here's a pic of my finished product called "Get Bent". photo bc29cdbc-71ba-44ac-a6e1-047a337c6cf5_zpsf1a3adcb.jpg

Mmmm... Oatmeal!

Wintertime says ‘Oatmeal Stout’ to me, or maybe Porter... Eh. Whatever. I distinctly hear oatmeal.

Mellow and smooth. Provides that little difference that wakes up flavors not normally perceived.

Cheers!
