I wonder if it made a local or widespread tsunami? Or was the water just vaporized and therefore no wave?

Powerful stuff.

Not only the blast, but the effect the nukes had on life on the Bikini Atoll's ocean floor:

Meanwhile, lagoon water rushing back into the space vacated by the rising gas bubble started a tsunami-like water wave which lifted the ships as it passed under them. At 11 seconds after detonation, the first wave was 1,000 feet (305 m) from surface zero and 94 feet (29 m) high.[68] By the time it reached the Bikini Island beach, 3.5 miles (6 km) away, it was a nine-wave set with shore breakers up to 15 feet (5 m) high, which tossed landing craft onto the beach and filled them with sand.[69]

That was just and Atom Bomb. The first hydrogen bomb was 1952 with exponentially greater yield..

That’s pretty cool!

By the way, our experiments on Japan yielded some interesting results, too: On Hiroshima we used a uranium fueled bomb (”Little Boy”) and on Nagasaki a plutonium fueled bomb (”Fat Man”). It turned out that over the next couple of decades the incidence of new leukemia cases was far higher in Hiroshima than it was in Nagasaki.

Do the hairs stand up on the back of your neck? Do fluorescent tubes suddenly glow for no apparent reason?

Not really much of a story here; they’ve been leaking all along.

The “big” one right now is about 300 gallons and is trapped above dry soil. Not in groundwater.

I was just telling my wife — these leaks are such a nano event compared to the subject of this thread.

“Hanford”

Just read yesterday they've got six underground storage tanks leaking.

No tap water in your whiskey!

My Father was there. He had lots of stories to tell. And no - they weren’t about irradiated personnel (mostly.) Great stories though.

Check out “Trinity and Beyond - The Atomic Bomb Movie” It’s an incredible documentary hosted by Shatner. Lots of Atom/H-Bomb footage/info/history and even Russia’s Tzar Bomba 50 megaton blast.

That link has more than a few libridiots spouting the party line on it. Take blood pressure meds before reading.
