We don’t know how, but Adolf Hitler somehow managed to sneak past a photographer, several advertising executives and J.C. Penney’s marketing department and make it onto a billboard. Disguising himself as a teapot might have had something to do with it, but once you’ve seen him, it’s impossible not to see.

Probably a much more apt comparison. It is no accident that as Adolf Hitler tried to look somewhat like Kaiser Wilhelm, David Axel Rod is trying very much to recreate that lasting visual impression.

Despots try to achieve a similar appearance, to leave the impression that their agenda and doctrines have some continuity in history.

It is not a continuity that is compatible with individual freedom of expression and exercise of basic justice toward those who surround oneself.
