Never heard of a "wet nurse"?
Vaguely. But I always thought that was recently pregnant women producing extra milk for other people's babies.
And I have never. If you go through the cycle of food through the body and how food is processed by all the organs, unless there are serious health problems to begin with, obesity cannot result from a breast milk fed baby. Make sure that you are not confusing obese with baby fat. They need some storage for growth and repair.
I know obese and not obese babies. I was amazed at the obese breast feds I met because I had been told in classes and on the job that there are no obese breast feds.
And my adopted infants were all bottle fed, two chubbs and two skinnies.

Nerves in the nipple are stimulated by the baby nursing.
This causes the immediate release of two hormones, oxytocin and prolactin.
Among other effects oxytocin causes what’s known as the letdown response. This causes the squeezing out of the milk from glands within the breast.
Oxytocin can sometimes be released when the mother just hears a baby cry.
Prolactin is what causes the breast to continue producing milk...it’s part of a feed back system. For maximum milk production it needs to be released every two hours or so.
Constant, diligent, nipple stimulation can start lactation even in a woman who has never been pregnant. A breast pump if used every two hours can accomplish this. Women do this in order to breastfeed an adopted child. Certain hormones can aid greatly in starting lactation and are often required to initiate lactation.
A woman can only act as a wet-nurse if she is lactating.
It was once believed that a wet-nurse must have recently undergone childbirth. This is not necessarily true, as regular breast suckling can elicit lactation via a neural reflex of prolactin production and secretion.[3]
Some adoptive mothers have been able to establish lactation using a breast pump so that they could feed an adopted infant.

Vanessa Williams fed her kids until three or something.
I think I remember reading in the Last Emperor that Pu Yi breast fed until he was well into his teens.

They say cow’s milk is bad because of the impurities that are alledgedly passed through the cow, imagine the nasty stuff passed by a human.
Weird how these oddities are paraded by the press. Given how the scouts are changing, I wonder if you can get a badge for this stuff?
