My bet is because athletes don’t have real jobs and the medical/dental coverage that comes with a real job.
My guess is that the vast majority of the athletes examined came from countries other than the U.S.....I don't know how many Brits I've seen on TV that have absolutely ugly teeth.....

My teeth started heading South when I was about 15. I had good habits, but I also had Welsh teeth. Poor enamel. Everyone on that side of the family had choppers by the time they were in their Forties.

In all the dozens of times I have been to GB, I have never seen a ‘dentist’ sign. Maybe they are worded differently or are located in dr’s offices or maybe they don’t advertise with street signs. Either way, I never saw a single one.
