I question whether Neanderthals actually went extinct after my visit to a fairly remote area in the middle of France about five years ago.

Some of the ugliest people, with such grotesque facial features, I've ever seen in my life. Not just one or two, but dozens of 'em, walking upright, clothed, and without clubs, they certainly had the stereotypical caveman, kinda sorta Marice Tillet look spread across the face.
