I did read most the Brothers Karamazoff. I hated it and by the end I wanted them all to die a gruesome death. I skipped a bit to the end and as I recall, they did.

“Any of “The Russians “

In the English novel the lovers want each other at the beginning and get each other at the end.
In the French novel the lovers have each other at the beginning and part in the end.
In the Russian novel they neither want nor get each other but brood about it for 800 pages.

Brothers Karamazoff

Ugh! I am reading that one now - up to page 500! I love Russian lit but this one is painful. But I hate quitting books in the middle (and ok, I'm a little bit curious about if Mitya is guilty). If Russians are really such drama queens it's a wonder they had time for a Revolution!

I''ve tried reading The Brothers Karamazoff as well as Crime and Punishment. Did not get a third of the way through with either. The only Russian author I have had success in reading is Ayn Rand, who is #10 on the list.

Atlas Shrugged I've read four times. 1984 I've read once. Never read any of the rest.
