Mum Dies of Breast Cancer After Doctors Told Her It Was Just TENNIS ELBOW

By the time the illness was diagnosed Jill Goodrum, 46, was terminal - yet she refused to criticise medical staff

A mum-of-five has lost her fight with breast cancer after the disease was wrongly diagnosed for two years as tennis elbow.

By the time it was discovered that Jill Goodrum, 46, had the condition, it had spread to her lymph nodes and liver – and it was terminal.

Her family said she had not criticised doctors for failing to spot the cancer earlier because it would have been so hard to detect.

Jill’s daughter Lyndsey Todd, 27, said: “Mum never blamed them for not picking it up then as she only had one symptom – they weren’t to know at that time.

“When she was diagnosed with cancer, doctors said they thought she’d had it three or four years.”

Gran Jill visited her GP in 2011 because she was struggling to lift her arms above shoulder height.

But the doctor said it was tennis elbow, which causes pain around the joint.

Self diagnosis skillz are now warranted.

It took me 24 hr and two trips to the ER to convince them that they should remove my appendix.

I’ve heard of some people not being able to tell their ass from their elbow ,, but doctors not being able to differentiate between breasts and elbows is bewildering.

Took me three trips to convince them to test me for kidney stones. And they had the gall to charge me for the first two. Or maybe I should say they had the stones.

I had one of those once, it was obvious. Worse than childbirth they say.....

Medical "help" was not. It finally passed on its own.

There are some bad doctors in the U.S., too. the difference is that you can choose you doctor, and not get stuck with whatever the government gives you.

Or, at least, that WAS the difference.

Believe it or not appendicitis is one of the most difficult diagnoses to make.I kid you not.

Seemed obvious to me. (Coming from a long line of family trouble with the appendix and being an old fart used to trouble diagnosis of “systems” - being old hurt in convincing the medicos as the incidence apparently drops after ~20 yr old)
