Recently I reread the complete Sherlock. The notion that Sherlock and Watson were gay lover is absurd and finds no basis in Conan Doyle’s work.

Well, this does put an amusing slant on some of the dialog in the stories. Doyle was fond of using the word "ejaculated" when an explanation burst forth from Watson. A line from narrator Watson would sometimes read "Great Scott!" I ejaculated. I guess the modern Watson would say "Great Scott, I ejaculated!".
