When I was a kid growing up in Arlington Heights
in the fifties, it was a great little town. Kids could go anywhere, and did. The Western Automotive stores sold
rolling block rifles by the barrel at 5 bucks apiece.
The VFW had a big rack out front for hunters to hang
their deer on during deer season and you would see plaid
nation congregating out front telling their tales and
having a snort.
We moved away in the early 60s and I’m glad I don’t live
there now, thank god for states like Georgia where PC
dictatorship hasn’t quite taken over yet.
