WHY EXACTLY DID THE DEMOCRATS GET SUCH A PASTING IN THE ELECTION?

(NATIONAL) -- Have Americans all of a sudden fallen in love with the Republican Party and that is the reason Democrats were taken to the woodshed in such brutal fashion in Tuesday's mid term election?

Not quite, argues John Dickerson Slate's chief political correspondent.

"The Republican Party had one strategy it followed in nearly every Senate race: run against the president. It paid off...democratic candidates couldn’t get out of the president’s shadow. Every Democratic attempt to localize the races failed," writes Dickerson in a post election analysis.

It was President Obama's unpopularity with voters, plus the democratic "coalition" that failed to vote that deep sixed all those Democratic candidates. Obama's unpopularity rubbed off on Democratic candidates like a blanket of doom.

"In Colorado, Sen. Mark Udall ran a campaign aimed at female voters, emphasizing reproductive rights. It was a tested item from the Democratic playbook, and it failed. In North Carolina, Sen. Kay Hagan ran a near-perfect campaign, hitting Republican Thom Tillis on education funding cuts that had occurred while he was the state Speaker of the House. It didn’t work," writes Dickerson.

The president wasn’t only a drag on Democratic candidates; his coalition failed to show up as well, he says.

"Democrats spent $60 million on trying to make the midterm electorate look like the electorate in a presidential election year, an attempt to cure the party’s boom-and-bust cycles. In Colorado, for example, younger voters represented 20 percent of the 2012 electorate. In 2014 they represented only 13 percent. Turnout among Democrats was at 28 percent, a record low in Colorado Senate races dating back to 1992.The voting was all by mail in the state this year, and though Democrats thought it would help them with younger voters, it appears to have done the opposite, say Democrats.

In other words, the fact that Republicans won is meaningless and everyone still continues to support liberal policies.

A few factors:

1. voter Id
2. Stacking crises of the admin
3. Unfavorable Map
4. Campaign missteps

Then, we can only hope that the fat cat elite rat billionaires will keep their pet narcissist in office for two more years.

If they don’t remove him to spend more time with his family, he should make the Rat party irrelevant from coast to coast by 2016.

Because Americans don’t like Obama’s:

Foreign Policy,
Regulatory constraints,
Tax Policy,
Anti-2A agenda,
Immigration policy,
DOJ over reach,
IRS abuses,
HHS incompetence,
Veteran’s Affairs abuses,
Response to the terror threat,
Abuse of Executive Orders,
Common Core agenda,
etc...

It’s true that the GOP basically won on “not Obama”. After 6 years, no one (outside the true kool-aid drinkers) has any illusions left that Obama is going to make their lives any better.

But that is a mandate in and of itself, just a little less well-defined. The mandate is to stop Obama from enacting his agenda and to roll back what parts of it that they can. It’s one of the great tragedies of our current system that I trust the GOP to do neither.

The GOPe won on the basis of “We suck less than 0bama.”

There was no positive program for which Americans voted.

Therefore, any action the GOPe takes will be properly met with: “We didn’t know you were going to do THAT when we elected you!”

Alternatively, they could have had a five point conservative plan. Not having a positive conservative plan that voters approved is:

THE BIGGEST MISSED POLITICAL OPPORTUNITY IN MY LIFETIME.

Every one of those who lost voted lock step for stimulus, Obamacare and were about to on immigration.
They ran in their own shadow!
What happened this time that didn’t last time is the Tea Part conservatives didn’t come out last time as they were disgusted with McCain and the status quo and their voices not being heard.
This election they had had enough and showed up and voted straight ticket republican. JMO

ISIS unchallenged and STILL on the move in the Middle East, flights from Ebola-infected countries still landing in America, Lois Lerner still not in jail, 5 Taliban commanders for one POS Deserter. Just a general growing outrage across America at Team Obama's (and Holder's) increasing lawlessness.

Still NO accountability for Benghazi, IRS scandal, etc..

The first thing the new repub congress should do is come up with a new action plan/contract with America.

course, when Obama ran twice for president, he ran against Bush, but that’s ok.

Never-mind that Obama came out and said of this midterm election “These policies are on the ballot”

The GOP won, NOT because voters loved them so much, but because they HATED 0bama much, much more!

To continue success at the polls they need to admit and remember this.

Because the dems mis-calculated how strong the results would be in favor of the GOP. They simply didn’t rig the voting machines well enough. As someone (Hugh Hewitt maybe?) once said, “If it ain’t close, they can’t cheat.”

For once in my lifetime, the GOP formulated a brilliant strategy. Why box yourself into a corner if you don't have to? They chose a 'referendum on Obama' so THEY DIDN'T NEED A PLATFORM TO WIN. Simple as that.. IT WORKED!!!

Feel good about this!
