I got rid of dish and got Comcast. So much better. Dish sucks. Comcast has been very good without any interruptions or anything.

Around here, KTVT and KTXA had the same beef with Time Warner a few months ago. The deal fell through, and the stations went off the air for about a month.

As I recall, Time Warner switched to feeds of The Hallmark Channel and one of the Starz channels while the negotiations dragged on.

As I do not have a digital TV, I don’t even know WHAT channels are included in the rental contract. (No, it’s not free; the TV service is rolled into the monthly rent; if I wanted to upgrade, Time Warner simply bills me the difference.)

I’m still waiting for xfinity to come back to DFW; the way things are going with the FCC, the merger will end up getting approved.

I remember when Comcast and TimeWarner swapped viewer markets back in ‘05—in the middle of a commercial break, the screen cut to black, then a commercial for TimeWarner started rolling.

We tried Dish a few years ago and it was so bad we paid to get out of the contract. Went back to DirecTV, thank you very much. Remember when TV was “free” and there were tons of good shows? Now you get 500 channels for big bucks per month but you only care about 10 of them. What a screwy world.

In March 2014, Dish stopped carrying MSNBC. In mid-November the viewer said, ‘Hey!’.

Dish does carry the Blaze!

I have more respect for Disk than any other carriers because Dish carries the Blaze

you aren’t playing hardball when you’re losing channels as well as subscribers left and right. You’re just losing.

DISH is very reliable. In over a decade, in three different homes, we have never had a problem with DISH. We love their Hopper Joey system with so many people and TVs.

I recently called DISH up to tell them that it would be cheaper for us if we switched to Verizon or U verse, and they ran through our bills and cut out stuff and gave us discounts and got us below switching price so we stayed.

This happens every year with Dish.

Programs all start the “OMG we’re gonna vanish!” hysteria, begging you to call Dish.

The real truth is that they are simply in their yearly price negotiations and when one or the other caves, the show will come back.

I dropped Dish several years ago.

Go tired of the drama.

So far, DirecTV has not pulled this predictable sturm and drang.

Dish is in a lot of these battles - seems that they want the rights to broadcast for next to nothing and don’t want to pay what other carriers are paying to carry some channels.

I heard a similar plea regarding NBC programming via a radio ad recently.

Thank you for that info. I wondered about the motivation.

(But please, sir, mind your language. Thank you.)

Comcast, Time Warner execs have been big Obama supporters

144

By Justin Sink - 02/13/14 01:20 PM EST

Comcast CEO Brian Roberts has donated $76,000 to Democrats since 2006, compared to $13,500 in contributions to Republicans. He’s golfed with Obama on Martha’s Vineyard, served on the president’s Jobs Council, and appeared at a number of White House meetings on business and technology.

But his fundraising efforts were dwarfed by head Comcast lobbyist David Cohen, a Democratic bundler who raised $1.44 million for the president’s reelection campaign in 2011 and 2012, and $2.22 million since 2007, according to internal documents obtained by the New York Times.

In 2011, Cohen hosted a DNC fundraiser attended by Obama at his home in Philadelphia. During the event, the president thanked him and his wife for “just being such great friends for so many years.”

Throughout the 2012 cycle, Comcast employees donated more than $465,000 to the Democratic National Committee, more than $300,000 to the president’s reelection campaign, and $178,050 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, according to Center for Responsive Politics data.

Well perhaps if a cable company who gives to Republicans but also is competent then perhaps I will order the cable. As of now, no cable company is better than Comcast.

DISH blocked FOXNews during the night and only one of FOX’s station is active, “FOX SPORTS LIVE”.
