Today's feature is shorter, Reader's Digest-style version of the 1947 Christmas classic from 20th Century-Fox's "Hour of Stars" television program directed by Disney vet("The Love Bug", "In Search of the Castaways") Robert Stevenson. Thomas Mitchell(Uncle Billy from "It's A Wonderful Life", Scarlett O'Hara's dad from "Gone With The Wind", also in "Only Angels Have Wings" and "Tales of Manhattan") plays Kris Kringle while Alfred Hitchcock's "Shadow of a Doubt" veterans Macdonald Carey and Teresa Wright play the John Payne and Maureen O'Hara roles. It's a good way to revisit this classic in about half the running time.

One of my favorites, the original, not the shortened version. We always watch it on Thanksgiving to get us in the holiday mood. Won’t say how many times we watched it since Thanksgiving this year. Watched it again Tuesday while wrapping gifts.

Today’s movies are “A Christmas Story” and “It’s a Wonderful Life”.

(Uncle Billy was Scarlett’s father, my, my, I never knew that)

Probably the saddest moment in the history of Christmasdom...

Not to worry, anyone. He comes back to life 3 minutes later.

Personally I chose “Freedom to Fascism” by Aaron Russo.

Agreed. We love the original “Miracle on 34th St.” We’ve watched it at least half a dozen times since Thanksgiving. It’s my second favorite Christmas movie, right behind “White Christmas”...

Personally, My Christmas’ growing up were Bells of St Mary and Miracle on 34th St. Oh, how I loved Bing Cosby as a priest. He seemed so genuine. Just loved it. Another great oldie was Mr. Roberts. I used to watch these with my dad when I was a youngster. Me, Dad and my brother. Great memories.

Merry Christmas to ALL!

I spent the night on the Lonely Freepers Christmas eve thread and figured I would have a rotten Christmas, but I got up this morning and flipped a coin, went to see my parents at the cemetery and decided it was ok to spend it with the rest of the family. Actually had a good time. (surprised even me!)

I love the one with Maureen O’Hara and the late Natalie Wood as a child. There is something very special about that movie.

My wife and I watch ‘’A Christmas Carol’’ every year. The 1951 version with Alistair Sim as "Old Scratch ''. There's none better.

I am amazed by the “progressive” education that the daughter gets.

Drives me nuts, it does.
