David Corn Hangs Up On Hugh Hewitt After 45-Minute Grilling on Bill O'Reilly
Real Clear Politics ^ | 2/23/2015

Posted on 02/24/2015 6:40:12 AM PST by Beave Meister

Hugh Hewitt grills David Corn of Mother Jones on his claim that then-CBS News correspondent Bill O'Reilly exaggerated the capacity of his involvement in covering the Falklands War.

DAVID CORN, MOTHER JONES: As Joe Walsh said, do the show, go play it straight, he’ll play fair. But you’re asking me questions you didn’t ask Bill O’Reilly.

HUGH HEWITT, HOST: If you…

DC: So you know, I’m given you one more…

HH: Here’s Eric Engberg…

DC: If you want to talk about the article or not, Hugh, because I’ve got better things to do than help you fill time on the radio.

HH: Eric Engberg said yesterday, “We saw what was a moderate-sized riot, what was a couple of thousand people attacking the Casa de Rosada.” But he also said nobody attacked the soldiers, nobody attacked the police. That account is now contradicted by a CNN story quoting CNN from the time saying, “A squad of teargas-armed troops and a crowd hurling coins, rocks and even bricks at police and journalists.” Is it not possible that we’ve got a different perspective thing going on here, David, just possible that some people saw different things?

Liberals don’t like getting the same treatment they give to Republicans!

Hugh Hewitt is many things, but most of all I think of a nice, polite, moderate GOPer. Have trouble imagine him giving anyone a hard time during an interview. For Corn to hang up on him says a lot about David Corn.

David was already getting uppitty by the time Hugh Hewitt asked him a question he’s asked libs (including David Axelrod) time and time again, do you think “Alger Hiss was guilty/a Communist”?

They always claim to “not know”, to not be up on history. Sometimes they claim they don’t even know who that is.

David acted as if he was being singled out for this question or taunted with a diversionary tactic. Hugh asks it quite often and not just when an interview is going off the rails.

And David tried to do the questioning. Guests don’t drive the shows they appear on.

he says one policeman pulled a pistol firing five shots. He ended the sentence there. In the New York Times, it continues, firing five shots over the heads of fleeing demonstrators. That’s not gunning people down.

Libs use that phrase to describe the event at Kent State.

I tried to listen to that yesterday on my 90 minute commute. I couldn’t do it. Corn went on and on and on with every question. It was so annoying I’d change channels and come back ten minutes later, try to listen, and change channels again. I only caught 2 minute snippets but it was obvious that Corn was being unraveled as it went on. I wanted to call in and give an analogy: I tell people I drive by Makers Mark distillery on my way to work, but in reality the turn off my road takes you to the distillery about a mile down the road. I’m being Bill when I say I “drive by it”.

But if I came across an accident where a tour bus making a left onto that road was t-boned by a passing car and I later said I was in the car that hit the bus, I’d be doing a Brian.

The REALLY sad part is that Corn quotes Joe Walsh (Hollywood entertainment touchstone) in his response.

E-gads the 60’s sucked....sucked eggs...
sucked d**k..
suck all sorts of things!

Seriously defending that loudmouth O’Reilly? Just because of who the accuser is? O’Reilly is an idiot. I can’t watch that show. Everythings about him. He has the same ego as Obama.

Hiss was exposed nearly 70 years ago as a diehard communist but even today Democrats, when asked about him, tend to be evasive, or in the case of David Corn, angry when he was asked about him by Hewitt. Hiss is still revered by the lefties. One of the greatest things Richard Nixon ever did was exposing Algier Hiss and raising the curtain on the communist infiltration of the federal government and the Democratic Party. For lefties to get so worked up about this shows where their true political sentiments lie.

More dodging (Axelrod claims that Valerie Jarrett was not part of Obama’s 2004 campaign, doesn’t offer much insight into her either, but then says that they’ve been very close for 25 years)...

I went to this transcript for comparison of (and background on) the Alger Hiss question. It is among a liteny of things Hugh will ask guests about to feel out their knowledge (and permit himself to plug some recommended texts)

http://www.hughhewitt.com/boxing-believer-talking-david-axelrod/

HH: Did you ever read Clarence Thomas’ memoir, My Grandfather’s Son?

DA: No.

HH: It’s a terrific book, David Axelrod. I mean, you would…

DA: I will put it on my list.

HH: Did you ever read The Looming Tower, by the way, by Lawrence Wright?

DA: I think I did, yes.

HH: That’s the must read. And that brings me to, you know Cass Sunstein well.

DA: Yes.

HH: And Cass Sunstein, who I admire for his intellect, not his positions greatly, has written an article about how Alger Hiss is the defining thing in American politics. Either you believe Alger Hiss was guilty, or you believe he was innocent. What do you believe, David Axelrod? Was Alger Hiss guilty?

DA: You know, I don’t know. I don’t know, because that happened in the late 1940s. And I wasn’t born, yet, and I haven’t really read a lot about it. I know that there have been varied accounts of that, including some that were based on records that were released after the…

HH: Yeah, he’s guilty, guilty, guilty. He’s a communist spy. Cass Sunstein knows that, but he, did you read that piece that Sunstein wrote?

DA: I didn’t.

HH: Okay, I’ll leave it alone then.

DA: I know Cass well, but I didn’t read that piece. Cass writes a lot of pieces. It would be a full-time job to keep up with them.

HH: Okay, just, Hiss was guilty, guilty, guilty. I just find it interesting that people don’t come to that. What about Saul Alinsky? He’s not in your book. Did you ever meet him?

DA: No.

HH: You never met Saul Alinsky?

DA: I’m not sure, I don’t even know when Saul Alinsky died. Saul Alinsky was active in the Woodlawn area, but I think he was pretty much gone by the time I got to Chicago.

HH: Okay, now Valerie Jarrett is in your book, but she doesn’t show up until Page 190. She’s a very ambiguous figure in your book. There’s a lot not written here. There’s a lot of spaces in which people can fill in some blanks. But was she part of the 2004 campaign strategy and tactics team, the Senate race?

DA: No, she was pretty much a fundraiser for Obama in 2004. She wasn’t deeply involved in the strategy of that campaign.

HH: You write that she doesn’t really know politics or campaigns at all, but she survived you all. She’s still there. Emmanuel’s gone, he’s in Chicago, you’re in Chicago, Plouffe’s gone, the other guy just left this week. The only one left is Valerie.

DA: Well, she’s very committed to the President, obviously, and they’re very close, and they’ve been close for 25 years. And one of the reasons why he wanted her in the White House is that they have a very close relationship, both he and the First Lady, with Valerie. They have confidence in her, and they feel that she’s unswervingly loyal, and I think it is.

“What difference does it make at this particular time, anyhow?”

“Whatever.”

Liberals hate being tied to a tape. If they can use the same tactic against their perceived enemies, then they are for it. Even if the comparison is overblown.

>>Hiss was exposed nearly 70 years ago as a diehard communist but even today Democrats, when asked about him, tend to be evasive, or in the case of David Corn, angry when he was asked about him by Hewitt. Hiss is still revered by the lefties.

Obama’s own positions on Islam vs. Christianity, Communism in the world today vs. our allies threatened by Communism, Marxist redistribution, Socialism, etc. are well known but it is politically incorrect to question Obama’s defense of the American way of life even as the president has been vocal against “American exceptionalism”. Oh sure he recently used the phrase in the past year.

But you can’t set your theromostat at whatever temperature you would like to. You can’t just drive any sized car that you can afford to anyplace that you would like to. You can’t just consume the world’s resources and ‘destroy the climate’. You are living too high on the hog. You need to lower your expectations a bit and realize that this nation has been evil in its wars against other sovereign nations...
