I don’t get the “energize the world” bit of the title. But then I am not sure I really see the significance of this discovery.

Well, one thing is they don’t require ‘rare’ minerals, now almost monopolized by China and Russia.
Another thing is they swell and contract in response to an external magnetic field, so that now instead of two magnets being required for certain applications, one will suffice.
