In both 1821 and 1899, Galveston Bay froze solid. Jane Long, the Mother of Texas reported that in 1821, while she was trapped alone near the bay, she saw a full grown Black Bear walking on the ice. In 1899, people ice skated and there is a picture of a horse and wagon traveling on ithe ice so it was 4-6” thick. Can you imagine the caterwauling should these occurrences happen again?

Oh, so it IS the big, yellow orb in the sky! Glad someone finally admitted it.

The view that puny mankind can grossly affect the climate of an entire planet with our current level of technology is absurd. It is born of hubris, which itself is born of a lack of faith in G-d. That, and a total lack of scientific knowledge, scientific objectivity and common sense.

Either it’s global warming or it’s a Little Ice Age. The disasterphiles cannot just let the climate do what it does.

Aren't we seeing this already?
In Rochester NY we are. The worst winter in memory ... February the coldest month in history ... coldest spring in memory (and 6 weeks late) ... hard freeze in May the latest in history.
WTH is that globull warming stuff?

Wait. What? You mean we had a climate change 300 years ago?!? Wasn’t that before car exhaust and air conditioners polluted the world?

Looks like 10 and 6 meter DX will suffer. IIRC, if we had the Maunder Minimum today, amateur radio operators would lose long range comms on shortwave in the day and at night, most DX would take place on 160 and 80 meters.

On Youtube, there are videoes showing the harsh winter of 1962/63 in the UK. One is from the BBC, “snowy winter 60’s” where it shows home movies taken that winter set to the music of the time played by the noted BBC host, Brian Matthew, who, in his late 80’s, is still on the air today playing the same music. BTW, I liked the plethora of old UK cars like the Ford Corsairs, Prefects, Anglias and so forth.
